The Sweet Smell of Transsexual Glam

http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2008/12/the_sweet_smell_of_transexual.php (http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2008/12/the_sweet_smell_of_transexual.php)
12/12/2008

Riptide continues to find out about exciting events during Art Basel that no one bothered to invite him to. So we are just completely and totally devastated that we weren't at the unveiling of the world's self-proclaimed number one transsexual Amanda Lepore's new signature fragrance.

The three comments were much more interesting than the article.

$950 an ounce for her parfum! I'll stick with Donna Karan. :)

Awww...look what we have here...Miss collagen lips gone wild!  >:-) She is one of those people that after all these years and being now post-op, "she is-trans-identified-as-trans-and-can't-move-beyond-trans-so-everyone-has-to-be-trans-identified-as-trans-and-not-move-beyond-being-trans"  How very pathetic!  ::)

tink :icon_chick:

P.S.  and incidentally, I copied that "is-trans-identified-as-trans-and-can't-move-beyond-trans-so-everyone-has-to-be-trans-identified-as-trans-and-not-move-beyond-being-trans" quote from one of your editorial articles, Katia! Brilliance! LOL ;D

Lepore has got to be the ugliest woman I've ever seen.

If you can call that a woman.

Looks more like a bunch of wax left in the oven on broil.

I suppose that many girls and bois, having taken a very long and hard road just to accept themselves as trans, are happy being there.  At least she is trying, she's working - so the perfume stinks, so do others, but she's trying.

Being happy where she is, is she now required to go the route you did 'because-I-did-and-anything-I-do-is-better.'

And, outside of LA perhaps, Miami is home to more collagen, botox, and bad plastic surgery of the 'if you have one more face lift you be sporting a gotee' type.  Perhaps she is just blending in.

that's what 'transgenders' do. they never move beyond their 'trans' world.  just because someone is postop doesn't mean that she's a functional, integrated female/woman.

just because someone is postop doesn't mean that she's a functional integrated female/woman.

I suppose that works in reverse too.  Matter of fact, I doubt if half the persons I've ever met in my life are functional and intergrated persons.  There is a high casualty rate out there, among people in general, not just persons who tend to TG.

And a lot of people here must be a whole lot smarter then me to be able to leap to conclusions like that based on one photo and couple of sentences about the perfume.  The plastic works looks bad, but most plastic work looks bad, I've seen Kenny Rodgers close up, so its not just TS persons with bad FFS.

yup, yup, you're right but i was talking about this quote (a friend of mine wrote it) specifically
Quotetrans-identified-as-trans-and-can't-move-beyond-trans-so-everyone-has-to-be-trans-identified-as-trans-and-not-move-beyond-being-trans
, not amanda.

Too big for the lower face for sure, she could use some jaw there, perhaps its a bad photo.  Of course it may just be the most awesome photo of her ever, and in reality she looks much worse.  Though if you cancel out the part of her face below the nose, she has great eyes and upper face.  Guess you can't win them all.

Bad color on the lipstick too, but that could be the color process used to get the photo.

ಠ_ಠ

I have difficulty beliving that any part of this woman is not made of plastic.

Maybe the reason her perfume is called "Amanda" is because it smells like her! :D

Wow, and I thought I took a bad picture.  But hey, if its what she wanted, then good, ain't for me, I like my ugly the old fashioned way, by nature.  If she has found some why to support herself and have the life she wants to have - groovy.  Does she reflect badly on anyone?  Her makeup, wardrobe, and plastic surgery people perhaps.  But I don't think anyone is going to confuse her with me, or anyone else for that matter.  She's not the girl next door.

********** removed pictures (one post full of them is more than enough************

Geez...you know, this is the thing, I could care less what she does with her own body or how she lives her life,  I do not care whether she calls herself a woman or thinks of herself as a glorified drag queen; however, I DO have a problem when she or anyone for that matter has the audacity to demean WWTH (women with transsexual histories) and/or makes a mockery of transsexualism on national television.

In a recent TLC program, she was the hostess of a TG beauty pageant which took place in Vegas sometime ago.  As the contestants were getting ready to introduce themselves, she (Amanda Lepore) grabbed the microphone and yelled out "Come on gils,. the audience is waiting for you. let's kill that catwalk, show the world your glamour, your makeup, your nightgowns, show them what transsexuals are all about"

Excuse me? who the fudge told her that transsexualism (or women with transsexual histories) is/are about dresses, glitter, makeup, boobs or glamour?   ::)  >:(

Katia, perhaps you should tell your friend (the one who wrote the quote above) about this.  >:-) The copy of that show is on the TLC website (you have to purchase it from them though)

Of course in Las Vegas it is.  That sthick don't carry no weight in SF, which is why that show don't play here - but Dame Edna KILLS - which I'm not that sure is all that much better.
