Do you have coffee or tea for breakfast? I'm not officially alive yet without my morning coffee.
A friend just told me they have tea for breakfast. Did you ever hear the like? :o ;)
I mean, seriously. Tea?
How in the sam hill do you leaf drinkers wake up in the mornings? :icon_weirdface:
The only thing I drink with breakfast is a small glass of orange juice or V8 juice.

Ei! wie schmeckt der Coffee süße,
Lieblicher als tausend Küsse,
Milder als Muskatenwein.
Coffee, Coffee muss ich haben,
Und wenn jemand mich will laben,
Ach, so schenkt mir Coffee ein!
~Liesgen
Never drink coffee, love tea on occasion but never for breakfast (mid-morning to warm up, or evening to relax)...
Milk and maybe OJ for breakfast ;)
~Kate~
I drink Tea. As I dont like coffee, love the smell of it just not the taste!
OJ or black coffee with a spot of honey with my oatmeal.
You have to ask? Phillistine! Coffee, of course.
Tea is for later in the day. It is to be sipped. Coffee is a power tool.
Coffee and a lot of it! I can't function without it. I have tried cutting back (which means driniking only 2/3 cups a day) and I sort of failed! I fool myself becasue I mix decaf and regular beans together (half caf) then tell myself I can drink twice as much. :)
Myles
Gotta have my morning coffee
I might have 2 or 3 cups a day, too. But, only the first one is caffienated. At my great and advancing age, I can't be staying up all night.
Tea with milk, no sugar. ;D
Yay for coffee - I need to wake up somehow.
Alice
Tea. Damn colonies, forgetting their roots.
tea brewed strong, small drop of milk - no sugar. Gulped down.
Contains caffeine, but also..
"The amino acid L-theanine, found almost exclusively in the tea plant, actively alters the attention networks of the brain, according to results of human trials announced in September 2007. John Foxe, Ph.D., professor of neuroscience, biology and psychology at City College of the City University of New York, found that theanine is absorbed by the small intestine and crosses the blood-brain barrier, where it affects the brain's neurotransmitters and increases alpha brain-wave activity. The result is a calmer, yet more alert, state of mind"
"A 2006 study[24][25] showed that elderly Japanese people who consumed more than 2 cups of green tea a day had a 50 percent lower chance of having cognitive impairment, in comparison to those who drank fewer than 2 cups a day, or who consumed other tested beverages. This is probably due to the effect of EGCG, which passes through the blood-brain barrier."
"According to a study[26] by UCL researchers, drinking black tea lowers stress hormone levels."
"Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago stated that polyphenols help inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause bad breath"
And many other things, making it a perfect morning boost... ;D
I'm with you Nero. I need to have my coffee if I'm to be fully functional throughout the day.
I have to have coffee in the morning. And it is hell if I am out. Grwwwwlllllll
I don't mean to say I drink a lot of coffee, but I get a Christmas card from Juan Valdez every year.

OJ or black coffee with a spot of honey with my oatmeal.
Be careful -- OJ might kill you.
Usually tea, though I am having coffee this morning.
But I haven't been to sleep so... yeah.
Coffee, I likes it. Regardless when that definition of "morning" is, like now for instance...
Coffee is something you have mid morning.
English Breakfast tea, toast and Marmalade in the morning.

I've been known to freebase caffeine. I was a mainliner of coffee for most of my life. I would be on automatic until the coffee kicked in. BTW: Caffeine is a very powerful laxative. Who need fibre when you have coffee?
But oddly, after I was on HRT for about eight months I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey. I experienced no withdrawal symptoms, no headaches, though I was constipated for a few days. It was similar to my body's reaction to giving up nicotine. I just stopped needing it. I think it was my brain finally getting the proper hormone mix.
I was off all caffeinated beverages for about a year, now I have the very occasional cup of joe after dinner, but mostly drink tea Earl Grey (hot), or Chai, or regular Liptons Orange Pekoe. Yes there is some caffeine in black and green tea, but not as much as is in coffee. Nowadays if I drink too much coffee (more than a couple) I will get very jittery. Definitely not safe to put mascara on after that! :D

And do you also read your fortune in those leaves every morning?
Touche. Guess I'll let you have your tea and drink it too. ;)
In the morning with/for breakfast? coffee, coffee, coffee, then, more coffee. About 3 pints each morning, my cup is 16 ounces. OK, it's a mug. LOL>
Tea is nice, iced and all, but, in the morning? HOT coffee, please.
When I drink tea, it's usually green or oolong.
I'd like to try Earl Grey, but just haven't had a chance yet. My wife, the tea snob afficiando, considers Earl Grey to be a big mistake. So, there's not much of a reason to buy a box of the stuff. Although, it I hate it too, I could just bring it to work.

You could always send it to Patrick Stewart. ;D
(He's probably sick of the stuff by now)

Lady Grey > Earl Grey
Coffee. Dark Roast. Fresh. Fresh ground. Melita Filters. Drip processing or French Press. Black as night. Hot as hell, Sweet as sin.
QuoteAnd I'd rather get my caffiene fix through massive amounts of soda
Corn syrup has its effects also.
Much worse at that, that soda deal sort of creeped me out to tell you the truth.
True that is, like soda pop for breakfast is like so jr. high, let me know when you drink adult drinks for an adult life, will 'ya?
if drinking an adult beverage means you act like an adult,
Works for me.
Coffee of course. I need to have it first thing in the morning; otherwise, horrible things can happen to people (literally) ;)
tink :icon_chick:
Yuck! I can't stand coffee or tea! I don't need any special drink to wake up in the morning. All I need to do is take a shower and I'm awake. The problem is actually getting to the shower...
I make coffee in the morning almost like it was an 'end of sleep' deal, then its even a 'first thing in the morning' deal.

Clearly not.
Well I tried not to rush into the entire adulthood deal, so I began with one adult thing and thought I'd add more as time progressed, I started with coffee some 4 decades ago, and I'm going to add the next adult thing real soon here.
The question should be: "do I have breakfast at coffee time?"
There's my answer. ;)
Well it's always coffee time, and breakfast is good anytime, so there you go.

Ditto.
I usually have Coffee because it's easier to make. Tea is a little of a hassle but I'm lazy :P
I've heard that the coffee in America is crap. You only have to look at Starbucks. Your milk it crappy too. I can't see how anyone gets a good brew in the states. I feel sorry for you guys, you're like a third world country in terms of coffee quality which is funny when you consider most of the best coffee is grown in third world countries.
That is irony isn't it? My small brain can't handle complex things like irony - Pica pica, what's the definitive ruling? - everyone knows Brits have superior english abilities and Pica's more superior than most, in a humble sort of way.
I can get all sorts of good coffees on the West Coast.

My apologees. I must be missinformed....PICA!!!!
oh, but maybe you don't know any better?
Anything grown in Central or South America is easy to find. Why trust a Brit on coffee anyway?
too true, why trust a brit?
I heard the continent is the best place for coffee, but i never touch the stuff 'cept to sell it.
and the people who buy the loose beans, here at least, are 80% of the time total nobends,
though i think it is because the people that buy the loose beans in england think they are connoisseurs.
Someone who travels between our two decrepit nations told me that you should always order coffee out, but always make tea at home, because it's hard to get the perfect or even adequate tea, but easy enough to get okay coffee.
Though I once smelt a McDonald's coffee and it smelled of mud...i suppose it had been ground that morning.
It's a lot harder to find good tea here, and almost never in a resturaunt, where they serve some stuff like Stash or similar brand. But if you go to some of the real good food stores, you can find pretty good tea, all imported of course. At least Justin Lloyd, which seems to be at least OK.
But we have two companies Peet's and Tully's that do their own local roasting, and a couple of old line family places that still roast on site, like in North Beach. So the good coffee is always there, and yeah, I buy loose beans, well not too lose, I put them in a bag and all.
I'd never drink McDee's coffee, iccky.
Oh, God!!! not Charbucks!!! Almost the worst coffee in the country. Barely a step above Conoco.
Wow I had starbucks for the first time the other day and thought it was a step above anything I've had before. Not like I've had the supposed best or anything though. It didn't have that acidic, catpee flavor that most others have.
For the morning I do cocacola like an idiot, I really need to switch to tea or juice but am hooked!
-looks around confusedly- I drink McD's/BK's iced coffee sometimes, it's nothing amazing but it's alright. Gives me caffeine and doesn't taste half bad.
Anyways COFFEEEEEEEEEEEE FTW. <33 -infatuated look-
The standard coffee rule applies, which states that where ever, and whenever you really, really, need coffee, what they have will be the worst coffee you've ever tasted.
Wouldn't know, I have a very serious allergy to offices, break out if I even get near one. But I know a lot about driving long distances at night, which is where the rule comes from. Nebraska to be exact. About mile marker 200 (out of 490).
If you are looking for coffee to get your heart started, stop at your local truck stop.
If you need something to strip paint or rust, stop at your local truck stop for a cup of coffee.
If you need to increase the octane of your gas, stop at your local truck stop for a cup of coffee.
If you think that Starbuck's is bad coffee, stop at your local truck stop for a cup of coffee.
Weekday: coffee
Weekend: Early Grey
Neither. Burrito and a vanilla coke.
Dr. Pepper and spiced chocolate milk or hot chocolate (mmm, cinnamon spice, cayenne pepper, and chili pepper, how you do mix with chocolate).
Does Kahlua count for coffee? >:-)
Always tea! :D
