The best way to get at them is with your pocketbook.  Go to Target and forget Walmart.

I am 4 months into RLE and I shop at Walmart.  I don't know why, it isn't that it is any closer than Target from me.  But I have never had any problems in any store.  And if someone is saying anything it is behind my back.

Am I just that blind?  I don't know.  Maybe it is my attitude.  I don't know and I really could care less.  If they want to treat me badly, me and my money go elsewhere.

Sorry, I haven't had any problems at WalMart either. I'd guess you just met a bad apple.

Never go, I go to places that pay decent wages, and who have people on the staff who give a darn about the people shopping there.

Your post didn't give any details, so I'm guessing you were dressed in guy-mode, you went through checkout with some panties, and the clerk made fun of you.

I'm not a big fan of WalMart, but I think you just ran into an ass of a clerk. Unfortunately, you can run into them anywhere, in any store. The good news: they're not common; most clerks don't give a damn.

However ... if you can be objective ... were you sending any 'make fun of me' signals? For example, were you obviously scared, defensive, ashamed, embarrassed, nervous, etc? That doesn't excuse the clerk's behavior. Not for an instant! But if you project that kind of attitude, it's more likely that you'll bring out the worst in a clerk. That's like a guy going to a seedy bar, getting plastered, and flashing a gold Rolex and a big roll of 100's as he pays his tab. He's just asking to be mugged by the locals. That doesn't make it any less of a crime, but the guy could have prevented it by being more careful.

The solution (other than waiting for a world in which everyone is kind and gentle) is to avoid projecting that attitude. You have every right to buy those panties. Don't act ashamed or embarrassed.

Yes, I know that's easier said than done.

CORRECT! we have a winner!! but really kinda half & half wearing a mix of girl & guy stuff it really was not the check out staff who were snickering it was just some dumb assed biological girls who were snickering, jackasses i've got as much right to wearing the clothes as they do,and besides the complete reverse at kmart no problems there & strangely enough no problems there at all of course the panties i'd hoped they had they really did not have much of anything, but the jeans dear god they all looked good but are they really a good place to buy them, oh and did anyone see that survey that just came out guess who ranked dead last as far as Lgbt comunity walmart  of course. oh and for the most part i've never really had problems with target except do they even have plus size clothes anyway?

Thanks for the clarification.

Although ... and please, I mean this as a friendly observation ... if you really believed they were jackasses and you had every right to be dressed as you were, I don't think their comments would have bothered you. You would have just laughed them off.

Example: If someone accuses me of something that's at least partly accurate, my initial reaction is to yell, "How dare you! God damn it, shut up!" Of course, most of the time I have enough self-control to keep my mouth shut. But I'll obsess about that incident for days.

On the other hand, when someone accuses me of something I know is totally ridiculous, I snort, shake my head, roll my eyes, and/or laugh at them. And five minutes later, I've forgotten about it.

hun, how can you be so sure they were laughing at you? did you hear them say stuff like "look at the wierdo/->-bleeped-<-got?" etc. i'm just trying to get a feel. tbh, so many conversations go on in a checkout line, its possible they didn't even notice you unless they knew you personally. now, just about everybody knows i work at that hellhole and i have bought many female items of clothing from them before or after. i only shop there for a couple of reasons, i get a discount, and everywhere else is too far of a drive especially with three kids. for me to go to Kmart its 20 miles, and for me to go to Target the closest one is in Indiana. just go there and buy your stuff with confidence, as long as you're happy then it doesn't matter what those gg's think.  ;D

i'm not really gonna worry about it too much because it's very unlikely that i'm going to that walmart again any time soon, and besides that one was at spotslivania courthouse in northern va. so i'll just go to the places around here to get the stuff i need, & really fredreksburg just has some really bad memories for me.

The joke in my gay friend's circle is "Ross: Where it costs less to cross dress!". You might try going there.

I offer my 2 cents. I have found the best time to shop for indies at Walmart is during the week and mornings. Afternoons and especially evenings, many of the younger clerks are working and they tend to be the problem clerks. Weekend can be bad time also. Do some homework before heading for the lingerie department, know what you want, don't make eye contact and have fun. I usually do my grocery shopping at the same time so my cart is full and one more product is just that. Small talk can be difficult.  I purchase most of my femme clothes on the net, you can be anonymous. Happy New Year to all

You care that much about what some minimum wage clerk thinks?

Look at it as your trial by fire my dear, cuz it is likely to happen again
I have gained so much confidence in myself from those situations by facing it instead of
hiding that now I kinda like the attention. Those type of people you mentioned will always
laugh at the expense of others but if your confident in yourself then they are just wasting thier
time and you are getting a new pair of panties out of the deal...whose the winner there?

Walmart is one of those places where I go either 100% femme, in which case I use the self check out line exclusively, or I go endrab and use whatever is faster.  My one time of catching an attitude from a cashier was in a book store when I was in full tasteful femme that had gotten me refered to with a nice female pronoun in another store already that evening. The 18-23 punk guy with spikes I wanted to pound into his head anyway, "sir'ed" me I think because I had bought a book on gender studies.  I got even though and sweetly told him in my best femme voice "I'll bet you say that to all the girls dear!!"  The head cashier came up behind him at that point and moved the "Closed" sign in front of the register and told him to go to the cashiering office.  The HC gave me a pleasant look, and said "Have a good evening miss."

I remember that about 6 years ago a female cashier at walmart questioned me why I picked lady's pants. I was a little bit upset, but just said that my waist is too small to wear men's pants. If she questioned more, I might have called the manager, but I thought again that walmart is not any kind of justice court.

I loved walmart as there are so many fancy and affordable fashion items. I still like pants or tees for juniors in walmart, and I still like wearing black low-rise bootcut jeans I purchased at walmart about 5 years ago. I will stop at walmart again when I visit the US next year.

While it's true most clerks couldn't care less, there are people in this world who get their jollies by tearing others down. That's the only way they can feel good about themselves. Some of them get jobs in sales. Eventually, they either learn to check that attitude in the break room, or they get fired, or they run into some customer with a short fuse who grinds their face into the scanner.

But until then, you could run into one of them. Yes, we all know they're horribly insecure about themselves, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

The best course of action is just to pity them, and don't let them bait you. And don't hesitate to walk away without paying.

I find that such people exist everywhere, in every job or group in the world.

I've bought girl's clothes at Wal-Mart a few times and never had a problem. The one and only time someone said anything was a few years ago when I went to a Wal-Mart to by my second pair or panties ever. I was there at 2am and spent over and half and hour trying to get up the nerve to pick something out and take it to the cashier. The cashier was a friendly black woman who knew I was buying the underwear for myself since my nervousness at it being this late made it obvious. She was nice about it saying it was cool. I was embarrassed but certainly didn't feel humiliated and laughed about it when I got home. It was about a year before I went back to that store.

Holy crap, you're almost defending wal-mart.   :o

Mickie defending Walmart is from the stand point of purchasing, not working.  Wally World is driven by the bottom line and customers drive that.  I still shop there onlybecause they are cheaper than Target here.  And I have never had a problem.  In fact I am always "Miss" or "Ma am" at Walmart.

Actually I've never had a problem at walmart, not even a problem using the fitting rooms.
