Title: spiro question
Post by: jenniferm on August 03, 2006, 06:29:50 PM
Hello Everyone
My name is Jen and I am a 51 y/o woman from New England who is thrilled to be transitioning! A quick question, I have been on estradiol cyponate im for about 7 months now. My endo just put me on aldactone (I don't know why he waited so long!). I am glad that I am finally on it and I wanted to know aout how long would you guess that I should begin to see the additional benefits of the aldactone? Just curious (and ok, a bit anxious too!).
Thanks a bunch!
Jen

Hi Jen,
Welcome to Susans. We have a lot of very nice people here. Why don't you post  a little introduction about yourself, in the introduction part of Susans.
As far as the aldactone goes, I think everyone is a little different. I know that you could look it up on the Wiki part of Susans and it will give you a lot of info. about it. I haven't used the stuff in years and don't remember too much about it.

Just wanted to jump in and say, "Hi Jen".
Would be great if you would post an intro about yourself so we could get to know you better.
:)

Hello Jen:

We're looking forward to your introduction ;).  In the meantime, you can read more about spironolactone and other type of anti-androgen medications in our wiki.  Here is the link:

Well everyone's different but for what it's worth here's how it affecte me...

When I first went on spiro, after only a few days (IIRC its effects have a 3 day delay) I noticed I felt calmer, more peaceful, more at ease, and also cleaner somehow, like the feeling one gets when they've just showered.

Maybe TMI but:
I also noticed that at the end of the day, even if I was outside when it's hot, I didn't get nearly as uhh, pungent as I used to.

So far I'm thrilled with its effects.

Congrats on getting your prescription! :) Wow, 7 months is a heck of a long time.
