Title: Celebrating One's Transition
Post by: Linus on January 26, 2009, 06:17:25 AM
I often think too often we get wrapped up in the "negative" results of transition (e.g., family and friend loss, hatred, discrimination, etc.) that we forget to celebrate the person we are and will become. So what thing/event will you do to celebrate?

For me, I've settled it down to a tattoo (I have 5 already, all self-designed). About a year after top surgery I want to get a zipped either on or just below the scar (I'll need double-incision). The zipper would be opening up and maple leafs (in recognition of my home country, Canada) will tumble out while the zipper itself will have an American flag, fluttering slightly (my "adoptive" country that I've lived in now for over a year).

So how about you?

I am going to get a quote tattoo done after my top sugery just above my nipple..

We do get wrapped up as you said with the negativity.. when we should celebrate!

I will celebrate my 1 year on T and before I have top surgery and after but not just after if you know what I mean!

Definitely know what you mean. The celebration of new life should happen just before and just after. :)

Congrats on the year!

I despise tattoos so.
Have lots of sex and go swimming often.
All with my shirt off.
;D

DO YOGA TOPLESS!

woot

I'm going to get a tattoo post T but it will have nothing to do with my transition and a lot to do with my obsession with zelda.

All awesome ideas. And yes, swimming topless is definitely up there. For me it'll be doing a bicycle tour topless and getting an upper body tan. :)

Don't do what a guy (straight?) did in Aus.
He was a member of the Finks outlaw bike group. Had his whole back tattooed with their colours. Then left to the H Angels. The Finks came after him with acid and paint strippers.
Hm
Not sure if I like Tats

LoL

Sounds awesome gnomekid

The sleeves I've designed have a triforce on  ;D

They are basically a huge abstract mess of geeky stuff, tetris blocks, mario stars/mushrooms, space invaders, all the oldskool stuff

Gonna cost me a bloody fortune  :P

LOL... nope. These tattoos are more personal for the self rather than indicate an association with others.

Yeah I've been wanting a second tat for ages but I wanted it to be meaningful, I think it would be great to mark my transition in some way as a reminder and would mean a lot.  Not sure what to get done tho I need to look at some designs maybe even design my own...

I want a million tattoos, but my celebration of being a dude occurs daily when I realize that after years of suffering, I finally feel okay in my own skin.
