You think we're egocentric as a type?

should've aimed the video a bit lower...
there's a line between egocentricity and exhibitionism
well, for the record, you are egocentric.
Pica, you are an oddball. "And," quoting Dogberry from Much Ado About Nothing, "I praise God for you."
I'd love to meet you, too. But again, some place "safe." :D
I think of myself as selfish, and I'm not entirely sure if or how this differs from being egocentric.
well, I think the whole egocentric ties into the childlike thing. children are said to be very egocentric and think they're superheroes and the world revolves around them until they grow up and see other people.
I certainly feel like my wife and my son are both more mature than I am. I've still got my daughter beat, but she's only 17.
egocentric is not quite the same as selfish though

there's only one way.

yes, but everyone does that. what is the pica egocentric
about?
I don't think I'd call myself egocentric, but I do feel that I have to take care of myself, so I do put myself before others in that sense. But I also think about other people, so ???. Then again, I know a LOT of truly egocentric and/or selfish people and I strive to not be perceived that way.
Virginia was gathering her thoughts and accidentally tripped over her ego

disclaimer: Huge generalizations.
So, the majority of this forum is INFP, in the myers-briggs testy thing.
The INFP type is described as "being very aware of their feelings", apparently, more so than other kind of type.
I *always* know what I am feeling.Other people seem to "believe" rather than "know" what they're feeling.
We as androgynes are more aware of our oddness, and how we feel about it.
I've met excentrics who are painfully *unaware* of their oddness and they feel they're just doing a-ok while everybody is like "omg this guy's freaking mad as a tuna".
Some of us, I personally don't, try to appear as normal and to be "within the boundaries" of society etc. This have to be because these a.g.s are "ego-centric", as it has been described earlier in this thread, no ?
That's what I think.
I might be wrong.
I do know everybody likes fishes.

I don't think I'm egocentric, on this site most of my posts are me focused but IRL like when playing with my neice & Nephiew it's all about them and when talking with others I want to know about them as much as I'm willing to show / tell them about me
Did I just hear you pronounce the 'T' in the word 'often'?
Quote[from wikipedia]
In psychology, egocentrism is defined as a) the incomplete differentiation of the self and the world, including other people and b) the tendency to perceive, understand and interpret the world in terms of the self. The term derives from the Greek egĂ´, meaning "I". An egocentric person has a limited theory of mind, cannot fully "put himself in other peoples' shoes," and believes everyone sees what he/she sees (or that what he/she sees, in some way, exceeds what others see).
Quote"put himself in other peoples' shoes,"
I can put myself iin other peoples' shoes sometimes. Sometimes not as if I'm distant from them though I still wish for them the best.
Quotebelieves everyone sees what he/she sees (or that what he/she sees, in some way, exceeds what others see)
I fall into this trap a LOT. I believe that what I see is obvious to everyone. I'm only just learning to stop myself before assuming that my opinions should be shared by everyone else. I also sometimes feel that what I see exceeds what others are seeing.
This has been an interesting discussion.
last week I was hanging out with someone who is
not a christian fundamentalist and who
doesn't believe in evolution. I thought they were kidding and when I realized they weren't, I had to stop myself from thinking they are an ignorant pudhead. It's okay if someone does not see something in the same way that I do. It's okay. It. Is. Okay.
But, is it okay in the case of evolution? :-\
I can't shake it
I've tried on a few dif. shoes from time to time. Some fit. Some were a bit tight. Some just broke from the pressure of my big feet. I guess it's all about quality and fit.(is there some odd hidden message there?) Maybe, why do you ask?
I've often noticed that most do not see what I see. No problem.
Is it better to be poor and alive or wealthy and dead?
believes everyone sees what he/she sees
that is I, down to the he/she.
I, personally, would choose another definition: "centered in or arising from a person's own existence or perspective", and opine that, in order to buck society's view of genders, we have to be egocentric. It's all very simple, really. Anybody ought to be able to see it.
Long or short hair, sie is cute.
Humbly,
S
I prefeer pica with longish hair.
But then, I'm hair-o-phile, whatever the word for that is.
Let me tell you about everybody's favorite subject: me :D
Today I was in a meeting, there was I and Customer and SomeGuy. SomeGuy, I imagined, was worred about me "taking his job". I tried to make it clear that I didn't want to do that. SomeGuy is married and is young and likes stabilty, I'm young and I like instability. Thus I only wish to do this job and GTFO from here.
I was constantly asking "Do I make sense?" and "Do you understand what I'm saying?"
and they were like "oh, yes yes."
But I fear that I might not have explained myself well.
Maybe it's because sometimes I don't understand myself, and I expect other people to "not understand me" too.
But the *weirdest* part, for me, is that almost everybody whom I told me my story of SomeGuy and Customer, were like "yah kill SomeGuy and defecate on his grave!"
While my main worry was not to leave SomeGuy out of a job O.o;
Is that weird ?
You're not weird. The people who want you to bury the guy are dinks.
I don't think I am egocentric - perhaps a little inward looking. But then it sort of goes with the territory of being the centre of the universe don't ya thing? ;)

Hey now! We can't BOTH be the center of the universe!
Nickyum delenda est! :icon_evil_laugh: (look! I made you neuter! ;D)
eh-hem.
I watched it again. Maybe we could be seen as egocentric because we want to be seen as
ourselves, not as what we look like. We want others to perceive us as we perceive us and get annoyed when they don't.
For example, I had a date Friday and, to my horror, I girled it up and was treated like a girl. Now, that's my fault for buying into the whole gender thing, but I was annoyed that I felt like I had to do that. >:(
on a side note, what the hell is up with bras these days?! i bought a couple new ones and now every time i look down, i feel like sticking my chest out and saying "dandadadaaa! i have a breasts!" geezus. i want support, not a shelf.
i could do with a cleavage, to hold my pens in.

Actually for an Androgyne Thread the decay has been pretty slow.
true, it took a whole 3 pages to get to drinking each other's breastmilk
I know, we're slipping, I think we all need a spanking.
I must be of dirtier mind. Milkshake being slang for a sexual act.
Breastmilk is rather tasty though.
I was thinking of the line from There Will Be Blood, not sex. I don't always think about sex. I have one or two other thoughts in a day.
