"Lengthy television viewing in adolescence may raise the risk for depression in young adulthood, according to a new report."
"We really don't know what it was specifically about TV exposure that was associated with depression, whether it was a particular kind of programming or some contextual factor such as watching alone or with other people,"

TV is mind control designed to make you feel worthless and in need of products to make you happy. Turn it off.

Indeed! Happy people like things just the way they are so they don't buy as much stuff. I think TV commercials ought to be banned.

My family just turn it on and it's tosh, tosh, tosh...but they won't let me switch it on. I don't want tv or radio in my house...i'll use cds and videos - listen and watch what I choose, not what is chosen for me.

Well for me I'd say it was all of those shows about forensics and just science in general. When you come right down to it, science is some depressing stuff lol.
Big Brother.
'Nuff said.
The fact that people will spend their nights watching some total strangers sleeping... that has to be a depressing thought.

Big Brother lasted all of two seasons here in South Africa. I cannot understand why it's so popular in the UK.

Voyeuristic or masochistic tendencies, take your pick, lol. I rather think it's the latter. ;D
Jeremy Kyle.
More than enough to push anyone over the proverbial precipice.
Hey kids, there is a reason why they call it 'programing.' Get a clue.

LOL, that's true. I only ever his show once, but I came away with the feeling that he is what crude oil would look like if it assumed human form. :-\
I couldn't go on without The Big Bang Theory on Monday nights. Nothing about that show depresses me.
Commercials? They are made to make you feel you lack something in your life so they can fulfill that need. If you are the kind of person who focused on what you had rather than what you didn't have, you'd not fall prey to feeling bad from that type of stuff. Then again, we are mostly TS's here who make a life of focusing on what we don't have.

Oh wow. Your new pict is cute.
If something makes you feel depressed or upsets you why do it? Nothing in the TV news programmes or shows are going to let you help someone. Read a book. Take up painting, sewing, playing music, live.

I don't watch much TV. I'll switch it on for some background noise while I do other things. Mostly to drown out my obnoxious neighbor who yells at his TV all day. Or I'll switch it on when I can't sleep. knocks me right out. Sometimes there is something of interest on. But not very often. My dog likes to watch Animal Planet
