The Doctor Phil Show  - 'Little Boy Lost'  episode on Gender Identity Disorder

My view: This show is good exposure for the trans movement.

Here are a few of the clips I found, and then some observations-

Some Highlights:

After the opening setup, Glen Stanton (researcher for Focus On The Family) makes his initial remark that you can't expect cookie cutter situations, each is different.  Ok, I thought that was reasonable - then he proceeds to describe the effects of no male figure in the home, only to be interrupted by the mother, to remind him that the father left AFTER the transition.
(You're down ten points in the debate already dude!  You have to gain the audience's respect and trust from your opening remark - so the very first exchange puts Stanton at a disadvantage - Way to go Toni!  I love this woman.)

Toni, the mother says, "I think they're (Stanton +  ) absolutely ridiculous.  I think this is none of their business. If you want to help families, Que sera, wonderful for you.

Dr Dan Siegel, Child Psychiatrist, UCLA comes in and first off says that he is afraid that people watching the show will get the wrong idea:

"If a mother is too close to her son, that that is going to make him into think(ing) He's a girl... That is the most ridiculous, destructive thing. What we really want to do is promote a situation where people can love their children for who they are, and you guys are setting up this thing that is SO painful. ... There is not one piece of evidence that a mother being attuned to her son, and close to her son, is going to make that boy think he's a girl. Not one piece of evidence. Zero. This is what we need to do.  Promote parents loving their children, tuning into their children. Even if you look at the studies of the broader issue of temperment, parents who are attuned to who their child is, have children who thrive.  And that's what this woman has done with her born as an external male son, who had an internal identity as a female, and you were tuned into him and you did whatever you could, and now he's at a place where, how is he doing?

Toni (mother) She is very happy ... just 'cause you're a psychologist doesn't make you smarter about this than me, 'cause when you live something, you KNOW, you learn more.  (the audience applauds...she and Dan are tearing the reparative theory to shreds with a bit of basic truth)

The two clips I saw are enough to tell me that this show works in the favor of the trans movement. To anyone with a capable mind, the incompetence of the pro-reparative theory docs is evident.  They just don't look right!  And the mom was all over them like rouge on a Saturday night.

I think this is a coup for the trans movement period.  It gets a lot of people thinking about it in a more complex way, and to me - the truth will reign.  We have a lot of years of struggling left.

Look how long it took for the public to even begin to accept homosexuality enough to talk about it in mixed circles and then the long stretch to a partial acceptance by the middle culture.
