Title: Where is the best place for patch placement
Post by: Valerie Elizabeth on February 13, 2009, 05:27:25 PM
Hi, I am new and am going to be starting HRT in the next 2 weeks.  I talked to my endo about using patches.  My question is where is the best placement to keep it from coming off?

Let me know.

Thanks.  That is what I thought about placement.

Any suggestions while showering, because that's something I need to do?  Do they tend to come off in the shower?

You can try a piece of clear packing tape and a small piece of paper towel slightly larger
than the patch so the patch doesn't stick to the tape.

When your showering if you see
the paper towel getting wet then you know the patch is too.

...just an idea, I never used patches before.

   !Good Luck!

Patches are really a pain to use, I tried for a couple of years but as someone who showers at least twice a day they kept getting water under them and peeling off.

Switched to gel and have been on it ever since, far better and easier.

When I shower or bath I bin them. They won't be very effective after a shower, so I apply a new one. But I'm still not sure after 10 months if they are effective enough?
