From what I see, the trans movement is fighting it's way into a pyramid paradigm: The Paris Hilton Hierarchy Of Needs. The leaders of our movement are all stars, and we are all the fans, jumping like a kid at the back of the class with her hand up. Me! Me! Pick me! The world is constructed on media and popularity, more now than ever.
It makes me question - whose rules are we playing by? And nevermind thinking, how can we get out of the box?
Hi Brielle. Though you don't hear about it much, there are grassroots organizations being formed all over the country. Young people in particular are organizing and addressing needs in the trans community. They aren't beholden to the mainstream lgbt organizations. I, for one, am happy to see this. Fresh ideas and new blood are needed.

Hi Genee, yes I agree that it is wonderful to see young people actively involved. The liberated youth have such a refreshing open mind about it - because they never had to re-adjust to being open - they just grew up that way. That makes me excited about the possibilites the future holds.
So do I, Brielle. I'm applying for an internship to be a peer educator.
