Title: Came out to my mom and sister
Post by: Kirin on February 18, 2009, 06:40:56 PM
I came out to my mom just about an hour ago, even though until early this morning I hadn't been considering making the effort (although I live with my parents I am far from close to my mom, there is certainly no love lost between us) but I realized it would be good practice for coming out to my dad (whom I am much closer to, but who tends to be more close-minded) and I really want her to stop buying me girly clothes. Her response was what I expected - "Okay." My little sister, who was also in the car, responded by interrupting me to talk about the transsexuals she's seen on Law & Order. And how they're usually serial killers. She's 14, but her tact skills don't show it. Sis is still wrapping her head around it; I expect more questions from her later.

Anyways, it was pretty anticlimactic, but if it weren't for Susan's Place I don't think I would have had the courage to come out to anyone, so I guess this is more of a thank-you than any sort of inspirational story :) y'all're awesome.

It may have been anticlimactic, honey, but that doesn't detract from the feelings you had before you told them. And it's one more step you've taken towards being yourself.

And inspiration, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

Good for you, Kirin. Onwards and upwards. *hugs*

Thank you Leiandra ^-^ what you say is definitely true. There are more things to coming out than it being climactic.
