Title: On Denial
Post by: chrysalis on February 20, 2009, 03:48:15 AM
This is a very personal piece I've been working on about being in denial. It's functions better as a song, but the lyrics mean a lot to me as this was written as I finally began to come to terms with myself.

There's something I run from, it's deep down inside me.
There's something I hide from, I pray it won't find me.
If you should see it, standing behind me,
do me a favor and please don't remind me.

I bleed from the beating of a heart hid in darkness.
It grew from a seedling into hamartia.
I'm left alone pleading 'gainst this life, & left tarnished.
The strength to admit is just too much to harness.

I see the light, through a glass darkly.
I'm chained watching shadows, and knowing truth hardly.
Once I saw my reflection, that bastard he sparred me.
He left its mark, and in doing so scarred me.

Life is filled with pain, but no reason why
Inside we suffer, but we've learned to hide

& I don't want to be,
afraid any more.
I'm tired of the pain
of this aching sore.
I'm really broken up
but I wear a plastic smile
I'm full like a cup
and I could cry like a child.
