Title: What if the neighbors found out?
Post by: Genevieve Swann on February 27, 2009, 04:25:10 PM
Have you ever had a significant other or friend who were or are concerned about others opinions?

Yes my parents don't want my grandparents to find out or any of my other family, or the press.

My neigbours are some of my biggest supporters. One of my neigbours has me in her phone as Alan/Alice. It did however take me a long time to come out to them.

Your comment about the press makes me laugh. I can see it now, Jay on the front page of The National Enquirer. At every check stand at every supermarket. Cool!

Trust me it would be local news here. Would be find if it was in the National Enquirer though. As I am in the UK wouldn't matter one bit ;)

I have a relative that is concerned about what others will think of me, thats why she told all of them!!!

She hasn't caught on though that the responses that I have received in regard to her news, are that the others are largely neutral, or highly supportive of Vicky and all of them now have a very low opinion of her!! ;D

My upstairs neighbours are very fundamentalist Christians and very homophobic (we have quite a few Gay couples in the immediate vicinity).

I'm always polite with them, they know I'm not racist (they're Trinidadian) and they're cool with me. Frankly I suspect that if they have any problem with me it would be about me being Muslim not TS.

My neighbors don't know about "Mary Sue", and I don't want them to find out. As a single guy -- or so my neighbors think ;D -- living in a detached house in middle-class suburbia, they already think I'm strange. I don't want to push my luck.

True story: When one of my neighbors-to-be learned that I was buying the house, they went to the sellers and demanded that they rip up the contract. Apparently they were horrified at the thought of a single guy buying a house in their family neighborhood!

Yes, really. Those neighbors had never met me. All they knew was that I was a 30-something single male professional.

I only got the house because the sellers were desperate, and they didn't have any other offers.

I would be tempted make sure they saw Mary Sue occasionaly and lead them to beleive it's just another of your many girl friends. I love stirring up the neighbors. There is a hispanic family next door and they have seen Genevieve several times. It was usually with my female friend, and the teen age nieghbor girl one day stated "Son hermanas" referring Sandy and Genevieve. We're sisters. Good.

*Snicker*

I've been tempted to do things to my neighbor's panties in knot, Genevieve. However, "Mary Sue" doesn't go out in public. She's not exactly passible (her figure isn't bad, but she has 5 o'clock shadow worthy of Homer Simpson, and almost as much body hair as the average bear).

Besides, they could retaliate by trying to charge me with child molesting or some such rubbish. Not that I have anything to do with the neighbor kids; I leave them alone, and I hope they return the favor. But that wouldn't stop people from making baseless accusations.

So I mow my lawn regularly, trim my shrubs, rake my leaves, and generally avoid antagonizing my neighbors.

BTW, I don't have a string of girlfriends. Just one, and she only visits occasionally. Although she did live with me for a few months while her house was being repaired. If my neighbors noticed, they didn't say anything about my "wife."

What if my neighbors found out?  Shoot I don't know.  I suppose that they might not talk to me... but then again, they don't talk to me all that much as it is.

I've stood in picket lines here in town protesting against Prop 8 here in California.  I've had people call me a ->-bleeped-<-got there thinking that I was a lesbian or something.  They didn't know that most of us were straight.  I told a lesbian woman next to me one afternoon "I can be gay for a day" after some foul mouthed man drove by shouting obscenities.

I don't think that anyone would care all that much. But still, at that, I'm not one to open old wounds.  It was never my goal to live my life as a transsexual.  I wanted to be a girl and a woman. And that I have done for a couple decades.

Cindi, For some reason I thought most Californians were more liberal. Would not have expected hecklers. Several days ago on Harrison and 30th a young guy called me ->-bleeped-<-got. I was not dressed at the time but he must have seen me before. It does'nt bother me. People like that are wasting their time if they're trying to upset me.

I, in my desire to be out there, used to go out at 4 or 4:30 am and walk around dressed, not nude, just dressed SOMEWHAT provocatively, I said somewhat girls, just to be out and feeling my girly self. You know how it is with never being out as you wanna be. But I don't think they evre found out. I don't know if they ever saw me dressed, and I hardly ever dress for them to see, maybe once or twice per week, but if I did, what could I say, they have no control over my mind, althoug some would like to control ur mind, their thoughts are theirs. I have been dressing for years and if they think them saying somethign to me would stop    shows how much they know!! It doesn't matter, I haven't done anything illegally and I don't do nude nor children, so.... there!!    :D

I agree, Hon.  If my neighbors don't like it, they can move.  After all we all live in RVs.  >:-)

And most of my neighbors think the guy who lived there sold out to a woman.  ??? ;D

The previous owner sold to a very lovely woman. I'd be overjoyed to have you as neighbor. Dance to soft music under a full moon.

I'm very introverted, almost to the point of being a hermit. So, I don't even really know my neighbors. So, I'm not really sure how I would feel if they knew about my alter-ego, Charlotte.

I've only be out en femme near home twice. Once was on Halloween and the other was on New Year's Eve. No one cared on Halloween (just a costume, right?) and almost no one was around at about 11:45 pm on NYE.

I know I don't want my parents, especially my dad, to find out. It's enough to have a bigot in my immediate ancestry. I don't want to give him another reason to think poorly of me.

Do you live in the same neighborhood as your dad?  How's he gonna find out.  I remember taking someone out for the first time once (long ago now) and they were all worried they would run into someone they knew, and I told them that where we were going its not likely they would tell anyone they were there either.  Its like you know their secret too.  Right?

You need to get out more Grey, I ought to drag you out dancing some night, it wouldn't kill you, much.

Oh, I grant that it's extremely unlikely that I'd ever run into my dad while out en femme. He's more likely to find about because my wife and daughter have big mouths.

Dave/Charlotte:  It would depend a bit on the spirit that your spouse and child gave out the news.  As I posted earlier in this thread, I was deliberately and meanly "outed" to the "conservative christian" wing of the family by a sister who drives with her head out the car window and with her tongue hanging out over her teeth.  Once it has been done, you no longer have to worry about it. You can never be "a little bit out" when that is done.  My bet is that your spouse and daughter know the hurt that their Father In Law/granddad would have if they meanly outed you, and would know he would be mad at them too, and that would turn their meanness back on them big time.  In my case, my father died two years ago and my sister is actually mad at me because "big brother" is not there to replace dad.  I am 61 and she is 18 months younger -- go figure!!  Dysfunctional families are never without entertainment!!!  The reaction of those who were told about me has been more toward her than to me.  I have told the few who contacted me about my real feelings and the length of time I have had them and they have been surprisingly supportive of me, and have pity on her that she felt her only way to "status" was to try and hurt me.   :(

Chances are that if my wife or daughter outed me, it would something like, How can you hate gender-flux cross-dressers, your own son is one. So, it would not be a mean thing.

And, true, once done it would be done.

I have a new skirt. Maybe I should try it on and make sure the neighbors get to see it. They must be kept up on current events.

At this point I would kindly ask: "just what are you doing looking in my window?"

The "sofl" after Michelle stands for, "south Florida." We have some of the most liberal "castle defense" laws in the US.

I don't know if my neighbors have found out but they might suspect.

Pat and I are quite casual with our demonstrations of affection and openly kiss each other in public.  I suspect they think we're lesbians.

They're right.
