Autumn Sandeen writes here at Pam's about the TransAction Day in US schools and the uninformed responses by folks like Randy Thomas at Exodus International, an ex-gay organization.

Randy writes,

We have to be completely vigilant about what our children are being taught in schools. Parents need to pay attention and raise concerns with their school districts as well as teach their children healthy, biblical role-modeling of their gender.

Gender is not a social construct. It's a biological fact. We have men and women and that's been the case since the beginning of Creation.

Does that mean I'm a horrible "mother" for allowing my daughter to play with tools and airplanes which seem to be her favorite toys? It's not like I shoved these toys her way, it's her choice.
(A part of me half expects her to go "hey, how come I'm not a boy?" any moment now mind you.)

Ex Gays make me laugh, can't help visualising "But I'm A Cheerleader" whenever I hear that phrase!

Yes. And you're an even worse mother for not teaching her that she must get married, submit to her husband, and raise lots of christian children for him in order to be acceptable to god.

;) Ain't I glad I'm not christian then.
In my book, there's no hell to go to.
All I want for my child is for her to be safe, healthy and happy. That's all. I can't really understand why there are people out there that do not put those three things at the top of the list of what one's children should have!
