Title: Will it hurt?
Post by: Ashton28 on March 14, 2009, 10:31:59 PM
I definitely have to say I am rather.. big in the chesticles.. Yes.. I said chesticles. So, I was wondering if getting a binder, especially a fairly aggressive binder would hurt. Right now I don't use one, but thats just because I haven't found one that I think would work. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty big too, D sized. I use a modified back brace which does the job pretty well.

It's different for everyone. But I can pretty much guarantee that no matter what binder you go with you'll feel some sort of discomfort.

mine would be okay for the first half the day, then it'd get kind of uncomfortable. basically, what O said. any binder that's effective won't feel great.

btw. that's so cool your girl is here! lucky bastard.

Hmm. Well thanks. I'll be looking into them more. And yeah, she kinda found this place for me. She's been quite supportive and pushy, even if she thinks it's a bad thing to be pushy lol. If it wasn't for her, I'd have no support.

Hey, I'm only pushy when I need to be...   :-*

Osiris, how'd you modify a back brace, and how does it compare in cost to an actual binder?

unfortunately I don't have any real good suggestions for you as I'm on the opposite direction.

But I just wanted to say that's cool that you have someone so supportive!  That's really awesome that you have someone that cares for you that much :]

Chesticles sounds like a rather neat word, think I'll nick it.

I've got a DD chest and am a rather sizable bloke so I haven't found a binder that I feel will fit me, so I've made do with a sports bra and a bandage. If I manage to flatten it to where it looks alright to me then it gets sore after a couple of hours.

Of course it's not going to be very comfy, but do you want to pass or not? And you get used to it pretty fast, being happy with your chest overrides the discomfort.

I believe back braces run around $10, binders are from $30-70, depending where/which kind you buy. But back braces are not very practical, you might as well buy the binder. There are homemade options as well if you have the skill and patience.

I was big before chest surgery and I wore a binder it was fine. (Got used to it after a while) However when I started getting bigger and didn't buy a new one it was very uncomfortable.. but I had no funds or anything so I had to do what I had to do..

If you are good with a sewing machine you can make your own one.. if you use search there was a topic made a while back with a "how to" on it!

First off, you ROCK! Landon is lucky to have you on his side. :)

The back brace I got at Rite Aid for around 30 bucks, which is the same as an inexpensive binder, but you don't need to worry about shipping and handling charges.

It's very easy to modify the brace as well. There'll be some ridged support sticks in the brace. Cut them out. Then I cut off some of the brace so that it's more comfortable.

Here's how it looks after you've made your modifications-

To put it on I just lay back on it and then pull the sides tight so it'll be like this-

I've been using it for awhile and haven't had any problems with it.

I used a few different makeshift binders before buying one from Underworks, and I really prefer the latter. While it's tempting to go for something that only focuses on the chest region, I think the fact that most Underworks binders go the length of the torso is important for distributing the compression, thus enabling you to breathe a little easier.

Unfortunately, though, it doesn't look the best. While I'm overweight, without binding, my stomach doesn't protrude much at all. The way the binder works, however, in order to flatten my chest, my belly ends up protruding quite a bit. It's the only way I can really breathe without hindrance. It does get uncomfortable at times, but I far prefer it to the temporary solutions I used previously.

I have 2 underworks binder which I use. I am not large:  large B small C depending on the bra. They definitely flatten me out but take some getting used to. I tell people it's like walking around crammed in a mamogram machine (if your old enough to have had one if not  lets just day they suck!) all the time.
One sort of annoying thing about the tritop is it rolls up so you can see then line in my shirt but I just keep an eye on it.

I use an abdominal binder. It seems to work okay. I have large DD boobs and I am a big guy. I dont want to bind them completely flat because i would look concave and stupid because big guys tend to have a chest that is not flat. Just a bit of input not sure its going to help.
