I know that for is probably more of an insult, but honestly there are some women I look at who don't fit the female paradigm but still pull it off brilliantly.
For me, Lisa Lampanelli is one of these people.

She looks a bit like a toned down drag queen here, but in general I feel more confident about myself after watching her. I think she's kind of a role model in some ways.
The same goes for Queen Latifah.

So who gives you hope?
oh my god, queen latifa reminds me of my mom.
lisa lampanelli annoys the crap out of me but i still think she looks hawt.
as for what gives me hope? i'm hoping it's me, hehehe.
Yeah you're lucky enough to look the part already. Some of us need a bit more work.

ahhhhhhh!!!
you're the first person to tell me that!!!
you have no idea how freakin' happy that just made me!!!
sorry, i used to have crazy self esteem issues.
Lisa Lampanelli is very funny. I enjoy her. I hadn't realized Queen Latifa was TG. The thought never cross my mind. Usually when she is on I change the channel. Not because of her so much but the other actors. The person I respect the most is Cindi Jones and not because crossing the line was easy. Because of her tenacity and courage. I live in the city where she grew up and being TG is not very popular.

neither lady is TG, I think Chrysalis was commenting on how they don't fit the paradigm. I would pick different ladies as examples but I can agree with the topic for sure.
Not a fan of her or anything but I thought K.D. Lang was so cool when the media was giving her so much flack for looking like a man:

Peaches definitely flirts with the masculine look quite frequently too, though it's more of a deliberate effort for her rather than K.D. just being who she is:

I like Lisa Lampinelli...I think it might be her language and her comedic style. She doesn't do the typical 'female' humor. Actually, she was on last night roasting Larry the Cable Guy (...there are no words), and she was awesome. She's a ball buster.
For me, I look up to people like Davey Havok and Rufus Wainwright. Rufus dressed like Judy Garland in the tribute he did to her. And he's just adorable. Davey's almost too pretty. He's straight, I believe, but he wears makeup, he's into fashion, has some pretty effeminate gestures, etc. He's my favorite.

To clarify I meant that there are pretty rigid ideas about how a man or woman should look, and naturally not everyone fits into that mold. And sometimes that gets me down because, as a bio-guy, I don't fit the female mold. I'm too tall, too broad shouldered, too deep voiced and hairy, etc. So Lisa and the Queen are two women who I look to and think, "Hey, they're fabulous without being super models. I could do that!"
Despite that slight miscommunication this thread is turning out really great.
Here's a video of Rufus doing "Get Happy". :D

Never heard of her before. Who is she?
I'll say one thing for her... that pic is proof that wrap dresses look good on
everyone, no matter
what. They're one of the most amazing inventions ever.
LL is a stand-up comedian, self described (or promoted as) "The Queen of Mean" - so think sort of a female Don Rickles.
Eddie is terrific. When I was in high school all the guys went on a trip together and I'll never forget my jaw literally dropping once I they popped in Dress To Kill.

I've taken a shine to Izzy Hilton. That face of his is rather unique (very masculine at certain angles), as is his sense of style. I LOVE it!!! And he looks like that without hormones or anything ;-;

I met the guys from Blood (a visual kei band from Japan) and I truly thought that the bass player, Kaede, was a woman until he spoke. :D I wanted him to sign a guitar pick and he didn't understand at first, then said "Oh!" and scared the bejeezus out of me...he has a very manly voice. He signed it though.
