New Hampshire resident Sarah Blanchette was fired in 2004 from her job of seven years at a local college where she had received excellent annual performance reviews. Why fire an excellent employee? Because she was transitioning from male to female.
Her employers even put it in writing: "As you know, you recently disclosed to us your transgender status. Upon consideration, you are immediately relieved of your duties."
And there was absolutely nothing in New Hampshire law to protect Sarah from this cruel treatment.
