Title: Dexter
Post by: Jester on March 26, 2009, 09:54:01 AM
I should suppose some people definitely do, but anyone watch a lot of Dexter?  Not Dexter's lab, the one about the serial killer forensic scientist who only kills murderers.

It's probably my favourite show on TV right now.  Not the least reason of which is that I find Dexter's inner monologue to be very similar to my inner monologue.  Replace "serial killer" with "transgendered" and the falseness of his outer versus the inner that knows if it's found out bad things are going to go down.  The dark sense of humour that grows out of that.  That might sound weird, but whatever.

Hey Jester!
I am a Dexter addict! Someone at work told me about the show and I decided to get the first season on DVD - and I couldn't stop watching it. So I got the 2nd season. I am now waiting for the 3rd season to come out (it's pre-order at Amazon).

Here's my favorite quote from him: "I love Halloween. The one time of year when everyone wears a mask... not just me. People think it's fun to pretend you're a monster. Me, I spend my life pretending I'm not. Brother, friend, boyfriend - All part of my costume collection. Some people might call me a fraud. Let's see if it will fit. I prefer to think of myself as a master of disguise."

I really liked his relationship with Lilah.  The person who could see through him and literally forced him to be himself.

I am in between on Dexter & Lila's relationship. The first part of the relationship I kinda' like but then I like a more "darker" Dexter than an "emotional" Dexter which Lila brought out. And she was too crazy for me :). Anyway, I am assuming you've finished season 2 - I don't want to give out any spoilers or anything.

Dexter is a brillant, well written show. The main character is easy to identify with even if he's supposed to be the kind of thing we do not understand and can not identify with. Which makes the whole series awesome.

I've seen most of the first two seasons, but it reverse order (we don't have TV; I watched it on DVD).  I prefer the first season, where his inhumanity is more prominent, but the second one is good too.

I got both seasons on DVD too.. and I agree the first season was really great but I do like season 2 although he became somewhat emotional. I am still waiting for Season 3 - it's still pre-order in Amazon.

Ha... I've posted about this show elsewhere and I've seen that mistake made more than once.
Dexter is definitely one of the better shows on TV. There was an incredible amount of effort put into the writing and it really shows. I generally don't watch much TV, but I haven't seen anything that's sucked me in as much as Dexter has.

Haha, personally I love the Dexter series, however I highly recommend reading the books. To me they're a lot better than the actual TV series themselves. Jeff Lindsey is an amazing writer. :D

I cannot believe this topics dated three years back! I thought i might as well reply to this than to start another topic.

We're coming to a closure this season. I suppose i have some ideas how they might end it... Deb kill Dexter? What's everyone else thinking? I thought Dr.Vogel would have played at with her putting pieces together and figuring out who Dexter is, rather than already have known him as a child, so that's quite interesting, although i am not too keen on her being pursued by a former patient, i was hoping for a 'new villain', but maybe one or two will come along soon as it's still early. As for everyone else, i don't care for them :/

I love Dexter but I only have Freeview and a broken DVD player. My favourite parts are the black humour and were Dexter is thinking aloud,I like the monster part but a chilling moment was when Dexter was handing round donuts and he said the box was empty inside just like him.I was hooked from  the opening part where he stalked and captured the choirmaster

I thought Dexter was a fall (it's autumn dammit!) start, didn't realise season 8's already finished.  I know what I' doing with today, thanks for the heads up!
