As I learn more about transitioning, the process and how people feel about it afterwards, seeing some surgery pics on transster.com, I'm becoming more and more attracted to the idea of doing it...
If at all, when did you know for sure that you wanted to transition? Did you have regrets while you were doing it or was it mostly freeing? I know it'll probably be different in every case. I'm actually starting to formulate a plan though... Definitely need some counseling first, but yeah...
And I think I have a name for myself. Keeping all my initials, definitely. Not many good W names out there, but I think I like Wayland. Wayland Mikko Nelson. Wayland seems kind of old-fashioned and yet uncommon at the same time, which I like, and Mikko is Finnish and I'm part Fin, and it sounds affectionate and diminutive to me so I could go by that with friends to replace the nickname Nonie. I'm thinking about going back to Minnesota to get a real Native name too, cuz I never got a traditional name... Not so much to use it daily but to have it anyway. I bummed around in the other name thread and figured I definitely want the initials anyway, I'm sure of that.
What do you folks think? Any input?

Well when I was 6 I thought it's not necessary to have gender..loved to play with boys and their way of thinking was closer to my soul..as puberty started I was fighting with myself.."I don't want to grow up!That's not my directrion!I wanna stay a boy if I can't be a man". And today I'm still a boy..who has unfinished dream..

Believe me, I have scoured all the name sites I could find... The problem with a lot of W names is either they sound old old guy names (I'm 22) or they sound weird with my last name. I liked Westin a bit, but Westin Nelson? I don't think I'd be going by my first name anyway, but I'd be publishing under it after a while. Oh, and I have a brother named Walt already, so can't to Walt or Walter. Thanks for looking some up though :)

I'd be original and go with "West Nelson". Ser cool. Movie star material.
I sure didn't think too hard when I came up with my name. It was the first thing that I could think of when someone asked me my name. It stuck and has worked. I would have liked my parent's input but they weren't up to contributing to my demise at the time.

My chosen name is Draeden because it's what I was to be called if I were a boy and I like the name.
I'm not sure with what I want... If I want to go on T or not. It's probably for me just an issue of not being well enough informed by way of research.
Yeah, I didn't want something with a Celtic sound because those names kind of seem trendy to me. I guess that was the appeal of a weird old-fashioned one. Still unique but not something that I would end up sharing with another TS I think :) Plus I'm not a Celt and I wanted a name that would fit with at least one of the parts of my odd mix.
I like Draeden though, it sounds really cool to say :) Cindianna too.
I'm not a Celt either, I just thought it sounded neat. :D
I'm mostly British with a bit of Japanese and South Indian thrown in there.
Heh... One thing about (or should I say aboot) we Scandanavian Minnesotans is that, though in general we're pretty liberal, we are in many ways traditionalists :) My mom tends to like unusual yet old-fashioned names... One brother is Simon Benjamin an one is Walt Desmond and one is Derrick Alonzo Jr. I know that if Walty had been a girl she was going to name him Lydia Olivia. I guess I want to keep up the tradition too. Though I don't think she'd have chosen Mikko for me I do need something with a parallel feel to me current affectionate nickname, cuz man, I like it when people use it, it makes me feel kinda coddled and loved. And it had to start with M since that's my middle initial :)
I really love Japanese names, the way they break into clear syllables, but I already look racially ambiguous and don't want to further the confusion :D
