Post by: savin_glory on April 16, 2009, 03:27:44 AM
hey people, not been on for a while as unfortunately lost my nan to cancer last week, and the funeral etc this week :(

however on the plus side, went to the doctors last week to get referred to gender clinic. and they agreed to write me the referal. anyone got any ideas how long it takes to get an appointment at a gender clinic in the uk?

Hi Savin'

I don't want to dash your hopes...

....but if you are getting a referral via the NHS it depends a lot on your area and luck...

..don't be too surprised if it takes up to 6 months to get the initial appointment for counselling. :-\

Once you get into the system, things improve a little, but most people seem to report significant steps taking 3 months minimum. :-\

Persistence seems to pay off, so if you get frustrated then do follow up..... ;)

I wish you well... :icon_flower:

hey thanks chrissty, the person who been giving me advice through it had mentioned that it can take ages to get a letter bak n then another 3 month before appointment probably. I hate playing the waiting game, but sometimes its just gotta be done lol xx
