Title: Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Post by: Jester on April 22, 2009, 08:32:15 AM
I just watched it for the first time, and I think I'm more transgendered as a result.  I thought it was brilliant.  It pressed all of my buttons.  Really good film.

I need to 'trans up' too.  I should rent it.

Really didn't like that film at all to be honest.

Best TS/TG film I've seen is Wild Side that actually has a real TS in the lead role: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stephanie-Michelini-Yasmine-Belmadi-Nikitine/dp/B000ANVNIU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1240565465&sr=8-3 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stephanie-Michelini-Yasmine-Belmadi-Nikitine/dp/B000ANVNIU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1240565465&sr=8-3)

I'll check out that Wild Side movie.  But, the guy who played Hedwig and directed the movie also directed Shortbus, so I'm sure that he's at least a gay drag queen from the films he's made and been in.  Plus, the fact that the person playing Hedwig is a straight up male is part of what made me more transgendered as a result.  It's the first time I've ever seen a man and thought "Man, she's attractive."

Also, I sorta..... deep down... wanna be a transsexual metal star.  Seeing a rock opera about a transsexual punk rock star.  It's my type of thing.

I love the ending of Hedwig..
I do love the story too..
There's so much irony and so many layers...

I want the 2-3 hours of my life back, that were wasted on that movie.

I found the ending depressing as crap, even though I think it was supposed to be a mixed ending.

2-3 hours?  The movie's like an hour and a half long.  I think that if you're not into punk or 80s rock then the movie's gonna seem like it sucks.  Fortunately for me, I love both those things.

I watched the first hour of it, I wasn't really a fan. I guess the circumstances surrounding how Hedwig came to live as a female really turned me off to the film.
