This question may have been addressed already and this only applies to pre-ops, do you cheat when its convenient? I am talking about in the bathroom. I have made a conscious decision to develop feminine characteristics including how I use the bathroom. A GG has no choice. However , not living fulltime and using a male restroom can be somewhat revolting, I have also been told that woman's restrooms can be just as filthy if not worse than the men's room.
So do you cheat and use that disgusting appendage between your legs or not?
Only once since I went fulltime. I had to use an outhouse and it stunk so bad I could barely stand to be in it. It was mostly for speed reasons I didn't sit. :) Plus there were people waiting for me. That was a week into fulltime, but I haven't stood since.

When I started my transitioning phase, not when I went full time, I sat everytime. I wanted to get use to sitting and no matter what the predicament I sat. At first it was a problem as if I didn't hold it down there it would squirt through the toilet bowel and the seat and get everything wet. So it was a big problem for me. I was so glad the first time I sat and didn't have to push it down. It was very nice.

I was never comfortable in men's restrooms. I hated having to pee standing next to other men. I also hated dressing rooms. I always got dressed in stalls and peed in stalls, because I was wearing girls underwear, which of course I did not want anyone to see. I was what is refered to as a "shyguy". Even my male children used to think it was weird that I dressed in a stall, when I used to take them to the public swimming pool.
Having said all of that, I never cheat. I enjoy sitting while peeing, not to mention I can wipe it dry and make sure I don't have a pee spot on my pants from that trickle that used to happed to me, once I put it away, that used to be very embarrassing.
I also hated having urine splash back on me from certain kinds of urinals or splash marks on my shoes. I also found the noise of peeing into the water embarrassing, when hitting the sides is either impossible or causes splash back. All in all, I like sitting and look forward to the time when there is nothing to tuck down.

I have never cheated either ;) :D Believe it or not...I come from a family where the males always sit to urinate; my dad, my uncles, and my grandpa, they all sit to urinate...and I couldn't be the exception to the rule, could I? :)

I don't believe that I've ever cheated, even when I'm out or was out in the kayak or canoe, even then I squatted :) (that sounds so crude) but it's what girls do :P

At home I do occasionally. At one club that has single stalls as their bathrooms (4 total, always a line) I do as well near the end of the night because by then the bathrooms are trashed. At work, never.
One more thing is I have pretty much always sat and this was long, long before accepting who I was. It's just more comfortable. Heck, I was sitting pretty much all the time prior to even going fulltime while dressed like a male. Also, it's not a matter of "cheating", but rather being resourceful and using what's currently there.

Only cheat if I am in a porta potty or out house where the seat looks like it could reach out and bite you at any time due to it's filth. Heck there's no janitors to keep it clean like inside a building. I find it awkward when I have to do this and am very happy to get the heck out of the place after.
Yeah... I used to cheat sometimes but never in a rest room or toilet.....
Nipping behind a tree or a wall after a few drinks was a bonus when dying for a pee... one advantage guys have is the world is their urinal.
Post op... In a hurry or if the rest rooms are hot hygienic (as sky said), you can still stand up, takes time to master and perfect though.

That's one of the quirks of my dysphoria. I was sitting for years before I transitioned, so no, I never cheated, not even in the woods. I don't consider standing or hovering--as many women do--in gross unhygienic places cheating.

I have "cheated" only once since starting my transition. I had no choice really because the restroom was filthy and I couldn't hold out any longer. I didn't think it would affect me as much as it did but I honestly felt 'dirty' in a way. I will NEVER do it again unless there is absolutely no other way around it.
Unfortunately for me in my line of work there are times where you have but 2 choices-cheat in a filthy port a potty or hold it for 8 hours- I agree standing leaves you feeling wrong and kind of dirty or out of whack - which ever way one feels best to describe it- but I would rather feel like a bad girl than a wet girl for 7 or 8 hours!!lol :D

You can atleast pee anywhere, like you don't have to take your pants down on the side of the road or something, it's rather convenient. And I mean, if you've got it, it's no use being disgusted with it. REALITY CHECK!
Just go to whichever bathroom you have to, if you're dressed as a dude, go to the dude bathroom, likewise if you're dressed en femme. I don't think it really matters, and going psycho over soemthing so trivial as this... get real. I mean, you'll have plenty of time to freak out about stuff later when you're on hormones and CAN'T go to the boy's bathroom, don't make a big deal out of it now.

I "cheated" today, just this afternoon before leaving work to go home for lunch.
It's funny that when I was a kid I always preferred to sit, even when strongly discouraged, and I berated myself for "laziness!" Now, I usually sit and every once in a while to maintain my disguise's credibility at work, I make sure to stand when there's another guy in the bathroom.
I despise how good I am at lying, you know? And yet, I still do it - many times out of sheer habit - but I'm slowly getting better and slowly allowing the honesty.

Manila envelopes can be hastily modified by tearing off appropriate parts with fingers--

Or you can go unassisted, but you should read and understand the directions and start by practicing in the shower. Just because of the additional choices it gives me for servicing the bladder light, I plan to start practicing that technique just as soon after surgery as is reasonably comfortable and sanitary.
Years ago, I found out about a way to cut down on the male 'dribble', by the way. There's a spot just south of the scrotum (Labia Majora, for you post-ops,) that seems to be close to the reservoir of dribble. Press that spot before doing whatever it is you do these days to stow Mr. Johnson, and you no longer have to shake and dance...
As to cheating these days -- only when I have to. Nobody's missed me yet at the consoles, either... ;D

I always stand. Much faster and cleaner. I guess I never really thought of urinating as a potential expression of gender. That *other* function for it makes me uncomfortable, but otherwise... I dunno, it's just a body part. While I have male genitals, I'll stand. After SRS, I'll sit.
Though NOW I'm going to be thinking about it evertime I use the bathroom, lol...

Addendum: Wearing the StephieGaff (https://www.susans.org/wiki/Tucking_and_Taping#Make_Your_Own_Gaff) pretty much 24/7 has made standing to pee much harder -- another disincentive to doing it whilst I still have 'directional control'.
Meh. I sit for all but the most drastic reasons. Simple reason really... Habit. Specifically I don't want to be in some cold induced haze and try stupidly to stand to urinate post-op..
*shrug* Besides, I am pretty much to the point that when the water is frozen around here that I'd rather haul water for the toilet than go outside and pee behind a tree.
*shrug* If it gets it out of your system and you're happy with the situation then close enough :P

I wait until a stall is open and if the toilet is disgusting I squat and hover just above the seat and do my business. Yes, it takes some leg strength to accomplish it but I'd rather do that then stand.

also i find fascinating the concept of "cheating" 2 me is just peeing
... that conceptualization always disapeared when confronted with basic body functions, I used to read the trans books and magazines and wanted to be a good girl and this people sure knew more than i did blah blah one day i had to go really bad because i had been holding it too long so I parked the car by the side of the road and unzipped my pants and peshed them down pulled my part out and started to pee then I remembered that real girls sit so i squickly sit and pricked my behind and testicle with a sharp twig with small thorns in , I jumped my bladder released as i was saving my self from the perils of mother nature the spray hit the gound behind me because of the tuck but the getting up instinctively to avoid the thorn released my organ like a sling shot well my pants with the zipper on the side were soiled as well as my shoe and all i could think was how ungracefully and unlady like i behaved, As i drove back i realized that my problem was not my birth gender assignment but my brain cells reality assingment, I was crazy, well that did it, I have seen women pee an all kinds of terrain and situations, so I stopped listening to Transeexuals how to go potty and listen to my girlfriends. Now that might be an incentive for some to leave stealth mode ;D

When I started (2 years pre-HRT) I figured that I would develop the same habits as a GG would naturally have... If they can't stand up to do it, then why would *I*? In fact, if I don't HAVE to touch the thing at all, I won't!

I will verify that GG's do indeed stand up (sort of) if the conditions are really repulsive. It's a kind of a grab on the tp dispenser, squat and hover technique that I call the Jedi escape from the gross bathroom trick. And that's my two cents! ;D
I have considered once I go full time after my physical castration, a uretha reroute, I understand its quite a common procedure with minimul complication, that would seal the deal if you will.
hey in some european countries guys do pee all over the place. First thing I saw when I walked out of the train station in Rome was a guy marking his territory on the train station wall.
I can't stand up unless I'm using my stp packer. But I'm getting better at that. Anyway, guys can sit down, right?

Guys can and do sit down from time to time. A friend from days past would make it a habit at home -- that way he never had to remember to put the seat back down (his wife was ecstatic!)
But in the public john at work it gets noticed that a guy always seems to opt for the stall -- does he have constant loose bowels? Or is it something else?... It's funny -- nobody talks in the men's room, and if possible an empty urinal is left between current users, but there's an expectation that you'll belly-up to the consoles with everybody else unless doing number two.

My spouse sometimes has trouble with her bladder so we keep an empty 3lb coffee can in the car with a roll of TP. She uses that just outside the car door on the right, passenger side, with the door open, so the car blocks most of the view and I stand between her and as much of the rest of the viewing angle I can. She hold onto the seat and the door's armrest and does her business with almost no one being the wiser. Where I park also makes a difference, of course.
Me? As I already said, I sit almost always but sometimes I stand to keep my cover from being blown. More and more, though , I care less and less about what the others in my workplace think so I've been standing less and less. I don't hate my equipment as much as some do so I don't feel horrible when I stand and use it, just ambivalent.
We should all be able to pee in peace, though, no matter what.

Well, I have to use 'that thing' until SRS but if you're asking if I sit or stand, I sit, except when at work where very often there's those plastic portables that some construction companies think it has to be overflowing before they need a cleaning.
