Hi,
20 years ago today, she passed away.
A new book came out last year called,
Becoming a Woman by Richard f. Docter.
A song she sang was "I enjoy being a girl"
I couldn't agree more :).

Some of the early pioneers are remarkable and looked great considering the surgical limitations they had compared to the various surgery options of today.. I'm a big Tula Cossey fan myself.
My wife never understood why I cried on this day 20 years ago. This was a Bad Day in Black Rock. But she lead the way for me, personally.
May the gods rest her loving soul.

I am constantly thankful for those who have gone down this path before me, breaking trail and smoothing the way. This is a lonely process for each of us, but it is incredibly easier than it was.
I'm only two weeks into being Kate. Thank you to all who are three weeks in to being you. We each benefit from those before us and ease the way for those who follow.

She was the ONLY one I ever heard of in my childhood, the hushed whispers of adults who spoke softly for fear I would hear. Knowing that she "had been there" gave me the resolve to start fighting in the early 1960's (eventually being rescued by Dr. Biber in 1974). If I don't have a two-digit serial number, it is pretty darned close! ;D

Yep, I recall heaing, very briefly about her as well.
2 digits? Good grief, Jane. Careful someone will be writing a eulogy to you soon!!
I remember hearing about her in the 50's. I didn't understand then, what all the uproar was. My relatives were all calling her names and making a mockery out of her transition. I happened to see her movie in the early 60's, it happen to be a B movie, in other words it was the second movie. It was playing with this pirate movie and I think my aunt had a crush on the star of that movie. We watched the Christine Jorgensen movie and I knew right then and there that was who I was. Didn't know any terms back then and frankly was frightened to even mention this to anyone. I followed every person who crossdressed or did anything like that. Wrote a term paper on transexualism in the 70's. Learned about the twin boys from Dr. Money's medical journal at UCI. I even met a few transexuals, one was Christine Jorgansen another was the tennis star, can't remember her name. There was another who just got out of the Air Force and was living in San Juan Capistrano, she was on campus. I met them through my job and had one in a class. So why did I wait so long for my turn?
The tennis star is Renée Richards, the reason trans women can play in women's sports. Trans rights have come along way thanks to both these women.
Hi,
This Sat the 30th would have been her birthday.
What ever you are drinking, raise a toast to her.
Her efforts paved the way for all of us. I know it helped me. Back in the early 70's, I seen part of the movie on TV and instantly related. Altho it took me another 20 years to act on it, and resolve it.
