Why feminists should be concerned with the impending revision of the DSM (http://www.feministing.com/archives/015254.html)

"...Blanchard has recently presented some of his suggestions to revise the "Paraphilia" section of the DSM. In the past, this section has generally received little attention from feminists, as it has been primarily limited to several sexual crimes (e.g., pedophilia, frotteurism and exhibitionism) and a handful of other generally consensual but unnecessarily stigmatized sexual acts (such as fetishism and BDSM) that are considered "atypical" by sex researchers. However, there are two aspects of the proposed Paraphilia section revision that should be of great concern to feminists, as well as anyone else who is interested in gender and sexual equality. "
Yeah, that lil ole cliche about "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap has always puzzled me as to why anyone would ever imagine it to be true. The enemy of your enemy could very well be your enemy as well if you're not too busy gloating over what you think is the harm being done to other group/s rather than your own.
Of course, never underestimate the power of human prejudice, spite and nonsensical drawing of conclusions from evidence we don't understand to clog up what sense we might have. :)
Nice essay. Thanks for posting it, Nero.

no prob. :)
get a load of this - "Blanchard and other like-minded sex researchers have coined words like Gynandromorphophilia (attraction to trans women), Andromimetophilia (attraction to trans men"
Didn't know I was a paraphilia.

O, honey, anyone who they imagine as being "ewwww" is a paraphiliac!! Why that's the item that disparages those they cannot understand and haven't really researched in any shape form or fashion that wasn't their own particular perspective before they began their "research."
Long lines of "researchers" in the history or science who've managed to "prove" their own prejudices scientifically using the "scientific method." Heck, just ask tekla! As I recall they were a real life scholar in the field of "history of science."

It's ridiculous and scary. Never mind the rest of my rant I deleted because what do I know? lol

Makes me feel like a shoe. Apparently I'm just an object for people to become attracted to, who're kinky. Bleh. There I've been thinking I was a person all along.
