Well some of you knew as soon as Nero got on T, there'd be panic and question after question. :laugh:
Does this mean I'm going to get ovarian cysts? How bad for my body is it to not menstruate?
as far as i know, there havnt been enough studies of "women" on testosterone to know if it actually causes cancer or cysts. :/
my T perscribing doctor still reccomends total hystorectomies just in case.
I have decided for definte I am going to have a hysto possibly next year as of sick time at work.
I couldn't imagine it does the parts down there any good. But I don't know from a medical point of view.

Well if it's any comfort, I was on that birth control for a long time where you only have a period once every three months. I think I was on it from age 17 to almost age 22. I mean, I still bled occasionally, but much less often than other people. I don't have any numbers to offer. I don't think the risks they associate with cysts have much to do with not bleeding. At least not in the immediate future. You wouldn't have problems from that for at least a few years. That's not a medical opinion at all, btw. Just my educated guess.
In general, there's not enough FtMs that would jump to do medical research (I would because I'd love to have accurate stats on our health) for them to find this kind of stuff out about us. They think there's PROBABLY (or so they say) a risk so they yank our junk before we can find out.

No. I don't know of anyone who didn't have cysts (i.e. PCOS) pre-T and was then discovered to have them after starting T. Anyway, even if I'm completely wrong here, and you do get cysts, the cysts aren't in themselves damaging in any way. I had PCOS for many years, and was initially put on medication to regulate my periods. After a while I queried this, and was told that the main downside to PCOS is that it makes it harder for a person to become pregnant, and that people with PCOS are generally put onto the medication as having regular periods makes them feel better - not because it's actually doing them any harm not to have periods!
I don't think that not menstruating is, in itself, damaging to the body - after all, women ost-menopause don't menstruate. T basically stops the whole process, so it's not as if the lining is thickening every month and then staying there - the whole process is stopped entirely.
Still, as others have said, a hysto is often recommended - my personal view was that the junk was just sitting around in there doing nothing apart from shrivelling up; it was no use to me, so I wanted it out so that nothing bad could happen because of it. It was very important to me psychologically as well, though I know that isn't the case for everyone.

I've worried about this myself, as I have absolutely no intention of having a hysterectomy. When I started T, my doctor said that if I wasn't going to have those parts removed, I'd just want to see a gyno once a year to make sure no cancers had developed... just like any chick. I think if you don't have a family history of those sorts of cancers, you're probably safe, as long as you have regular check-ups.
