Title: Marriage after surgery
Post by: Cloe_Ho on May 19, 2009, 11:09:52 AM
I am 47 years old, and been married for 21 years, and I am just beginning my journey. My wife is fully supportive of my decision and has one concern that I am not able to address and this does not come into play for several years. However, when I undergo a reassignment surgery, does our marriage become void? I do not think that it would? Can someone be able to answer this question?

No. You have to get a divorce. You are legally married because at the time of the contract you were the correct sex.

In Germany you have according to the TSG (Law for transsexuals in Germany) to divorce. Than you gotyour status changed on your birth certificate, and than you can married again your wife. Cause in Germany we have a "gay marriage".
