Gates Defends Soldier's Pink Undies

If you're a male U.S. soldier who has the misfortune of being photographed wearing pink underwear while engaging the Taliban in Afghanistan, it's good to know the Defense Secretary has your back.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates gave a humorous shout-out to Army Specialist Zachery Boyd during a speech in New York City Thursday night.

Defends it? The outrage! Who on earth (aside from my daughter when she was a toddler and didn't know better) would pair a red shirt with pink undies? The colors clash horribly! Pink with the camo is one thing, but pink and red with camo? No way.

I'd be a lot happier with no pink undies, and none of our people dying, and none of our people killing their people.  Underwear seems rather trivial in comparison with death.  Perhaps that's just me.

I agree.  I found the story rather unnecessary.

It's pretty ridiculous. Of course, we know had he been wearing women's underwear, he'd have been booted out immediately re DADT policy....

I didn't read the text.

But how many children in their pink or blue underwear have been killed in this terrible conflict. And those who brought it on can wear whatever they like. Parasites in sheeps clothing. Are they going to be sent to Guitmo as  endanderging the life of the American people, doubt it.

Don't want a discussion on this I'm just expressing an opinion. Every time we visit this, we burn ourselves.

I liked the shot.

I would be worried that I would be an easy target wearing that stuff.

Quote"Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage. I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that - a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his crosshairs."

Aw come peeps, lighten up.  I think that is hilarious.  Any soldier from Texas wearing anything that says "I love New York" has real balls.  Besides, those boxers are way cute!
