Once an opponent of same-sex unions, South Bay Assemblyman Ted Lieu is
running for attorney general as a strong supporter of gay marriage and
an opponent of Proposition 8.
But Lieu has also taken it a step further, authoring legislation that
would allow all transgendered people born in California to get a new
birth certificate reflecting their new gender - even if they no longer
live in the state.
You have to change your BC in the state you are born in. If you no longer reside there it becomes more difficult because many states require court attendance. Also each state requires different forms and documents making it almost impossible. If the Feds made a law requiring the states to accept a passport as the only proof to change BC the problem would be solved. Where is homeland security when you need them?
Forget the BC. Get a passport instead.
