Title: update on parent meeting
Post by: kody2011 on May 30, 2009, 01:10:55 AM
not good...not good at all...to sum it all up, they don't want to be a dysfunctional family...and that it is wrong to be transsexual and I need to "fix" it...can't see them or my little brother unless i'm dressed totally girl...and if i do anything to my body that is permanent, I'm out...so, it's either keep my family and lose myself...or keep myself and lose my family...how am i supposed to decide about that...and they hate my girlfriend because she's 29 years older then me...i'm just plumb screwed!!! :'( :'( :'(

Sorry
Same old problem with the same old result. What do YOU want. What is the most important things to YOU? Do you have a therapist who can guide you and your family? "Cos you need one big time. A thirty year old difference age can be significant, it depends a little on your age and your world experience.

Can you cope on your own, financially and life style. Can you move out?
OK a threat to stop you seeing your brother is nasty but how can it be enforced?

My advice, which isn't worth very much but hey, is to be yourself.

It may take a long time but hopefully they'll come around once they get over the impact of the news and their own prejudices.

Worst case is that they ardently refuse to ever consider your happiness or needs and would choose to "expel" you from the family unit. Well frankly, if that's their attitude it's probably not a relationship worth saving anyway.  Mind you, I've always been independent from my family, so I have no idea what it's like to be tightly bonded into a family unit.

Sorry for your angst...I hope it will work out!

J.

I am sorry to hear that.  But my 2 cents is...you have to live this life, not them.  They can't understand the pain you go thru.  You need to be true to yourself.

I'm sorry that has to be tough. It's all rather uncalled for, except the girlfriend part. I know I would freak out if anybody I knew was dating 30years up.
