They said "here's the light." Heaven and Earth. Sky and sea. Bird and mammal. Man and woman. Child. Came out wrong. Smash it to bits. Back to the beginning. Start all over. There was darkness. "Here's the light." Heaven and sea and man. Child's all wrong. Get the bat. We'll smash it to pieces. Grab the tape.
Out of the nest. Go on now. No need to prolong the inevitable. We clipped your wings, but we closed the lid to the toilet bowl. Sorry, kid, we only do this for 18 years. Smash and tape and smash. Still not what we wanted, but hey. We lived vicariously. Gave it a shot. A long shot. We're gamblers. Can't win the game if you don't play, see? Lottery's one in a million. We weren't even close. But at least we played. We bought a ticket. Should've bought a condom, but we had reputations to keep. She wore a white dress.
The great disappointment you were. Thought you were Jesus, but we were wrong. You never saved a soul.

It's going to be the preface for a story/graphic novel (maybe...if my friend ever gets to drawing) that I'm writing. Of course, I'm going to have to start writing more...heh.
