SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A Sacramento radio DJ said Wednesday his recent on-air comments about transgender people were "a joke," adding that he would never call on parents to beat their children.

"Can you say 'backpedal?'  Good.  I thought you could."

They probably got a bonus for getting more attention.  Even if the FCC fines the station, it's just the cost of doing business.  They'll still sell ads.  And probably charge more for them, and get it too.

Who knows, maybe they'll try waterboarding next...

Line up the likes of the Goood ReverAND a Al Sharp(a)ton. Please read the preceding as if Rush Limbaugh was saying it, thank you.

Next get the Goood Rev., or someone like him, to arrange the threat of boycott and threat of sponser boycott.

These guys just might take an Imusesque vacation. Imus was an idiot that day, I thought you didn't just say that when I heard it.

Outrage against the parent company and corporate news affilate will get the ball rolling.

Remember 9/11, every radio station went to simulcasting either ABC, CBS or NBC? Thats because the contract aligns them with a large national broadcasting company.

The corporate world has its benefits, it's time to make use of them.

What do you ubber libs say, "think globally, act locally?"

Start with a few of the local companies that advertise with them.

He never said the hate on trans people was a joke, only that hitting kids was a joke. He still seems to think trans people are fair game.

He's going to find out, sponsors are bailing on the station.

Radio operates on very slim margins. Losing several year long contracts with major advertisers is highly frowned upon, 3 major ones already pulled their ads. If a Dj cannot keep sponsors happy, they won't be there long. DJ's are a dime a dozen, these guys have one affiliate, we are not talking someone like Howard Stern who has lots of clout. These guys can be replaced in an instant.

Radio has been suffering in recent years as well and a lot of people are calling it a dying medium. So yeah at a point stuff like this can be parlayed into cool hip rebellious radio but when they are having trouble finding sponsors to begin with the pressure is far more intense.
