Title: I just got my first binder
Post by: Jude_ on June 18, 2009, 12:48:26 PM
So, i just got my first binder from underworks. It's the double front compression.

Ok, so here's my question: is it this hard for everyone else to put their binder on?! Is there a technique or something that I can do?

I tried putting it over my head, but that didn't work, so then I tried stepping into it, but my hips were too wide. I tried every possible way to get it over my head. I tried shimmying into it, and rolling it. None of them were working. I had to have my mom help me get into it. Haha luckily I have such a cool mom. It doesn't feel too tight or anything now that it's on, but is it possible that it might be too small? And that's why I had such a hard time getting it on? It feels fine now, i just don't want to have to get help every time I put it on.

Ahh sorry. I feel kind of dumb asking this. Some advice would be greatly appreciated though.

The first time is always the hardest.  it'll loosen up a bit and your technique will improve.

It's amazing how many posts those two lines can answer.

Binders do loosen up after you've worn them for a little while, but I also find it helpful to fold mine over double, pull it on over my head, and then rummage around some until I find the bottom seam. From there, it's pretty easy to tug the thing into place.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be sure to check out underarmor, and i'll keep experimenting with different techniques. Hopefully i'll figure out something that works.

Just a note:  Actual brand-name underarmour tends to be ridiculously expensive.  Fortunately, Walmart carries the same type of shirt (different brand) for about $10.  And I'll second that it makes it much easier to get the thing on, but it also means yet another layer of clothing.

Other people have also recommended talc to cut down on sweat and friction as you try to struggle into the binder.

i have the same one...the first two times getting it on (and off) i had to stand with my arms above my head so that my girlfriend could put it on for me...after that, it stretched enough that i could get it on and off with no problem...
