This might sound weird but I believe I have dislocated my left big toe. I know it's not broken since it would have been swelling and by this point I would have had it cut off, and it's not swelling enough to be sprained (who have ever heard of spraining only one toe anyways?). It just hurts really, really bad. Haha! If this keeps up I might visit a doctor.
But is it even possible to dislocate your toe? That's just kind of weird if you ask me.
Yes, it is.
Yeah, it's possible. Better to get it fixed sooner than later.
The difference is: you could most likely walk on a severe sprain of the big toe, but not if it was dislocated. The pain of taking half your weight on it would be too much. But, get an X-ray, just in case.
If it were dislocated, you would know because it would likely be sticking at an odd angle or at the least a bit longer than normal. It can and will also likely swell.
It is hard to say what you did without looking and possibly an x-ray but if it was dislocated you would likely know.
I'm betting you just sprained or stubbed it really good. I have had breaks that barely swelled at all and barely even hurt and others that were a bit painful, but swelled a lot. Just depends on the severity and location.
If everything looks okay, and works okay (just a bit painful), I wouldn't worry too much.
Ah I see, interesting. Oh the things you learn everyday. Haha!
It could be broken without swelling much. I've had both broken and badly sprained toes before. Normally it will turn dark colored like frost bite. There is nothing that can be done except try to wear a shoe to keep it straight. They cannot put a cast on a toe.
