Title: Underworks Binder - Help please!
Post by: Dink on July 08, 2009, 03:05:00 PM
Hey guys, I just got the Underworks 997.  I got the medium because that is exactly how I fit into the size chart.  Of course, the sizing only concerns chest and not shoulders or hips.  My shoulders are more on the broad side.  So, I can't get it on!  Not over the head and not pulling it up from below.  I am a bit scared of getting stuck in it... So does it sound to you like I need one size up or am I not trying hard enough?  I appreciate any advice you have.  Thanks!

They are supper hard to get on the first few or more times. I had to have someone help me until it stretch out enough for me to do it myself. I thought for sure I was going to dislocate something the first time I tried. I suggest standing in front of a mirror so you can see what will work best, and get help the first half dozen times or so.
Good Luck
Myles

Yep. Had the exact thing happen to me. I ordered the "correct" size but couldn't get it past my shoulders (I have broad shoulders too). You need a size bigger. I exchanged mine for one size larger and it works great. Underworks is easy to work with on exchanges. E-mail them and ask for an exchange.

Oh, don't try to force the binder past your shoulders. I got scratchs, rub burns and bruising and still got nowhere.

Thanks for all your responses!  So, I got brave and I tried again, this time I gave it a few stretches then stepped into it, pulled it up and found it easy to get in one arm at a time.  It is the right size for my chest for sure.  It really is a different experience wearing this.  I am not sure if I will keep the 997 or exchange it for the 988, which has chest-only compression since I am not sure if I will be able to get used to the compression around my mid-section.

Does anyone who has the 988 have any comments?

It can also help to wear an underarmour-type shirt under it the first couple times until it stretches out a bit.  That will eliminate the friction against your skin and allow it to side over much more easily.

I bought the Underworks 997 in an EXTRA small and I'm a B. Sounds like a death sentence but it fits great ^_^
I just step in and pull it up and then put my arms through one at a time. And it works great for me. Basically flat. Flat enough at least. And since it's so long, I can pull it over my hips and back end: gives me a very boyish figure, which is great.
Oh, ad it's very comfortable. No discomfort for me in the slightest. Of course, I did wear leggings and a tight shirt when I put it on to avoid friction.

This thread is exactly what I was hoping for! I ordered an underworks 997 today in an XS, (to try a longer style, compared to the t-kingdom 801 I wear for now, which is barely ribcage-length) and I'm so worried it won't fit... so now when it comes next week, I'll have some idea as to what I'm doing when I try it on.  :)

Yeah, I just got mine today and tried pulling it on over my head. It was terrible. As somebody mentioned before, I felt like I was going to dislocate one or both of my arms o.0
Don't even try it that way. I was running around my bedroom trying to get it off. I was afraid it was stuck.
Just step into it and pull it up. Even if it seems like it might be impossible: it isn't.

For myself, I could never step into a binder--I always had to pull it on over my head. Different strokes for different folks.
