Post by: cblucky21 on July 10, 2009, 09:27:52 AM
Is there anyone in Colorado out there Denver Metro that if not a group at least me and them could support each other?

The Gender Identity Center of Colorado is in Denver.  It's against the rules to post a link, but they have an extensive website and several active groups.

I'm from Colorado as well.  I've read up on the group, but I got discouraged when you had to pay to just show up. I'm not sure if its exactly the same one, that they said above me, but its one in Colorado.

They have a support group at CU
http://www.colorado.edu/studentgroups/gather/transform/ (http://www.colorado.edu/studentgroups/gather/transform/)

You can probably look into that. Although I think you may have to be student there, not 100% sure

Also, take a look at this one

Just be glad you're close to some that do function at least part of the year. I'm an hour from Denver, and there's NOTHING for glbt folk here. Heck, I think I could count the amount of glbt folk in this county on both hands.

Hello from Boulder.  I apologize if I'm reviving a thread that is too old, but it was on the first page.

I am a student at CU-Boulder and would be interested in meeting other transgender people in the area, including Denver.

It's nice to hear that there are a number of us from around here.  I'm from Boulder, but I live in downtown Denver now.  It looks like a couple suggestions have been tossed out there.  Has anyone been to or currently go to any groups around here?  It would be nice to get an opinion on them.

I just thought how nice it would be to meet other trans people in the Denver area.
I just started going to UC Denver after moving here on Sunday.
STRESS!!!
But if it wouldn't weird out or scare others, I'd like to meet at least one other Susan's Placer.

I currently commute between Denver and a small mountain town an hour away. I lived in Denver for 2 years while attending UC Denver, and never found a good trans group to be a part of. The group at the Gender Identity Center charges between $10 and $20 per meeting attended, and that's just not my cup of tea. The GLBT center downtown has plenty of groups for gay- and lesbian-identified folks, but there's a definite dearth of groups or activities for transfolk. That being said, I know there are far more of us in Denver than it would seem from the services that are(n't) there. If anyone wants to meet up for coffee or something, I'm game. I come to Denver typically once a week, and I'm always up for meeting new people. Pride is this weekend... anyone care to meet up then?

I live in Estes Park... There's like one other trans girl here that I've seen at the grocery store...  I'm so far away from any support

I think there's a trans group at CU Boulder, but I'm not sure if it's just for students.
