Sounds like fear. The best way to overcome fear is to slowly desensitize yourself to it. Do what you are afraid of over and over again, and your fear will grow less.

When one becomes "alcoholic," ALL drinking is based on fear.
Having to be drunk in order to face the world, or any aspect of life in general, is a hallmark sign of potential alcoholism.
Anima, I hope that you haven't crossed over the line from which their is no return to "normal" drinking.
Here's a simple general test to determine if you have a "drinking" problem.
Have one drink of your choice. Pour yourself a second one. Can you take a few sips, walk away from that beverage and post here?

Various folks here have battled with alcoholism. Some have won and others have lost the fight and drank themselves to death. I pray for you not to become a statistic.
Try logging in sober. You may find it more enjoyable.
I nearly drank myself to death. Finally decided to do something about it a few years ago.
Learning to accept myself and finding this site has been great therapy
