Here we go again with the 'scurred' of transwomen in the bathroom bull feces.

Thanks to the Toronto Sun and a tip from a reader I found out about this incident.

This time it was a north of the border incident that happened to 38 year old Meaford, ON resident Carol Ann Kotsopoulos.

She encountered some unwanted excitement at the Casino Rama in Orillia, ON back on March 27, 2008.

I thought Canada had all these human rights laws that were enforced, perhaps not so much.

If anyone ever asks about your "status", the proper response is: "Get stuffed!"

And it is not just T folks getting tossed. I have a very butch friend who has been asked to leave restrooms on more than one occasion.

I would have never answered "Are you a man or a woman?" with "I am a transwoman".  When someone asks that question, there's only two answers, man or woman.

But the whole thing about it being on the land of a people known for their positive attitude towards two spirit people, that just blows my mind. Maybe it was just the management company that were the phobes.

She's filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. Enforcement isn't instant.

Just like anywhere, laws are made to be broken.   In this case, the law will be enforced via a court case, and hopefully a fiscal settlement that sends a message to business that violations of the HRC code won't be tolerated.

Laws are only as good as the people that live under them, and Ontario has more then it's share of very open minded, live and let live people, but there's always going to be your f'tards out there to put a bad name to things.   I've found nothing but open arms and civility during my transition here in Ontario.

The HRC code is also very out in the open.  Employers and businesses are very aware of the protections present in this document, so this story is a bit surprising.  But it did take place out in the 'boonies', ie 'cottage country', perhaps they don't practice Human Rights way out there  :o .
