Title: Like attracts like?
Post by: barbie on July 20, 2009, 07:15:25 AM
Last week I sat on a bench to wait a train in the station. I wore skinny jeans with black sandals like:https://www.susans.org/forums/MGalleryItem.php?id=1784 (https://www.susans.org/forums/MGalleryItem.php?id=1784)

It is usual that some people watch me, but on that day, I was unpleasant. A vagrant at his 20's sat on the bench in front of me. He stared at me, and his eyes looked too strange, making me think he is probably mentally handicapped. I also stared at him, but he did not avoid my eyes. Then he smiled with his mouth open, making me confirm that he is a fool. I just stood up and left there.

Sigh. If I looked decent like other graceful ladies, this kind of guy would not stalk me. I wondered what was wrong in my appearance. Why do I attract this kind of strange and unpleasant people? Because I am also strange and unpleasant to the society? When I once said this kind of episode to one of my colleagues, he said probably birds of feather flock together.

No lady is immune from wierdos or stalkers.  Barbie dear, you know you attract attention...you're quite tall & pretty and, from your previous posts, I think you like turning heads :)  Unfortunately, this means that sometimes the attention won't be quite so nice.

When I'm in Asia, I get nice attention and nasty attention too - the vast majority of it nice. All depends who's looking at me.  It makes a pleasant change from the cool indifference I get at home, even if I have to put up with a drooling imbecile every now and then.

Bombi and finewine, thanks for some comfort to me.

Yes. Most people pay attention to me, and I now can enjoy it. Old people seem to be more interested in me. They are not straightforward, and tend to stealthily approach me and stroll around, but never too close.

"Strange" and "unpleasant" people can be also attracted by beauty, so you should not be wondering too much. Don't feel bad about it.

But to be honest, "strange" and "unpleasant" are not my favorite adjectives. I'm pretty sure that many people in the society looks at us in this way. This was just an unfortunate guy who was having a nice sight. That's all, don't take it personally
