Good News: Over the years since the Stonewall riot and through the work of Harvey Milk, the gay community has made some progress toward equality and tolerance in our culture.

Bad News: This progress for homosexuals and lesbians has not been the case for those who are transsexual.

Let me begin by differentiating between a homosexual and a transsexual. The former's condition relates to same sex attraction. Transsexuals are people whose condition is gender identity and not sexual orientation. These are people who are born in the wrong body, a situation they can't take for granted like the vast majority of society.
