Title: Came out to coworker
Post by: Dana Lane on July 29, 2009, 09:53:47 AM
I work with a woman who is so sincere and nice to me who always wants to know how I am doing (not just how ya doin') but really cares about me.  She had shared a lot of personal issues she is dealing with at the moment.  I told her I had something I wanted to tell her and we went out for drinks.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to tell her was because I am currently taking anti-androgen and estrogen (herbal estrogen).  My skin is becoming noticeably softer, hair on my arms and legs is so thin and light you can't even see it unless you got up close.  My face is changing a bit. I'm growing my nails out (not painting them for work). One of the biggest changes I have noticed is what they call the "Eunuch Calm".  Every time she asks me how I am doing I can only respond with fabulous or some other positive words which is not the way I used to be.

Anyways, I told her my story and she was very supportive and asked a lot of questions. We had a really good conversation and I am so glad I told her.

Well, that makes me a bit more real to the real world.  Just wanted to share.

Finding that one "is a bit more real to the real world" can be a very remarkable and enlightening experience, Bridgette.

Thanks for this little bit of news. And congratulations on acceptance.
