Title: how can i make long hair any more masculine
Post by: metal angel on August 06, 2009, 07:11:04 AM
I am really jealous of all the guys who have long flowing hair and make it look manly, i hang out in heavy metal bars a fair bit and i am the only one who's long hair looks girly. (well except for a few goths with too much eyeliner) No fare! Pout! hrmmm... maybe stop pouting is a start  ;)

But seriously is there a way to pull it off? i keep thinking of how too look more manly and i imagine that hair cut scene from "boys don't cry", but i don't want to do that, can't be a propper metal head without a propper mane.

I don't even know how or why it looks girly (could be the body below it, but one problem area at a time). It's not dyed or cut in any girly style. I cut it by putting it in a ponytail and snipping the end off for pete's sake. I get up in the morning run my fingers through it and plat it, when i go out i wear it out and whip it round as well as any bloke, and i wear a men's hat (Akubra).

Is it pure context? Or are there other solutions?

i was reading another thread about it

Further info: when i put it in a ponytail i put it low, no way i can be botherred brushing it up into a high ponytail and it needs to be low to fit under my hat. I usually plat it though, cos it stays in place longer.

And i part it in the midle. It's been growing long for at least 15 years so it's pretty set in  this direction. And it's totally flat on top, due to 19 years of growing and constant hat wear.

Maybe it is all context... i once posted a photo on the net once where only the back of my head was visible, a photo of myself at a gig which i found on the net actually, and 9/10 people thought it looked male, didn't give any background info just directed them to the head in the front row next to the bald one.

I am a m2f crossdresser, and my goal is exactly opposite to yours.

I started growing my hair about 5 years ago in 2004, but owing to my wife's canny trick, my hair was cut short at a hair salon in summer 2004 (she asked secretly the hair dresser to make my hair very short). After that, I did not go to any hair salon for a while.

At my work place, most people want me having pony tail. I have been interested in variations in ponytail, but my ponytails were not so much satisfactory to my eyes.

Anyway, most people think my ponytail look feminine, although they know I am a dad.

Some of my hair style changes in 2005.

My hair seems to grow fast.

I work with a lot of guys who have long hair. I think the rules go something like this:

1. Only wash it a couple of times a week.
2. Never comb, brush or style it.
3. Don't use conditioner.
4. Never get it cut. Just let it be raggedy with split ends.
5. Wear it under a ball cap or as a pony tail at the base of the neck using rubber bands.

Whatever you do don't put any color in it. No one will be the wiser as long as your hair looks like a total train wreck. However, the first time you give the appearance of actually giving a darned about what it looks like then you will get clocked.

Although the preceding is basically the truth you should just take good care of your hair and not worry what anyone else thinks. I keep my hair about medium length, style it every day, have it colored and get regular hair cuts by a real stylist and not some speedy-cuts quack. As a result, women constantly complement me on my hair.

If people think I am secretly a trannsexual (which I am) or gay (which I am) or whatever else I don't really care. If anyone says anything to me my stock reply is that I don't think there is anything whatsoever wrong with being gay or being trannsexual. Therefore, I can't deny or confirm your suspicion because to do so would be tantamount to agreeing with you that being gay or being trannsexual is wrong. Also, none of your damned business works very well.

I have very long hair. I only wash it about once a week, dont use conditioner and never brush it. Perhaps thats why it looks manly.
