Title: Not trans related. Opinions appreciated though!
Post by: Jasonk16 on August 11, 2009, 02:51:53 PM
Okay, so I'm getting a tattoo on Thursday, I just noticed I had poison ivy yesterday morning. Not real bad, just a bit on my ankles. But it can spread anywhere since it's in my blood now.

My cousin said I should re schedule my tattoo incase I end up getting it on my forearm after i get the tattoo and it ->-bleeped-<-ing it up.
I really don't wanna do that on a mere chance that it could do that.

Should I really bother being concerned about it and re schedule?

Even if there is a slight chance it would affect it then I would reschedule. That tattoo is going to be there for a long time, might as well give it the best possible chance to look good.

Anything such as a rash or a sunburn is cause for rescheduling. I know it sucks waiting but the key thing that will affect how good your tat is years to come is taking care of the skin and keeping it healthy.

I've been researching tattoos for years cause... "one of these days" I want to be a tattoo artist...

If you got poison ivy... Reschedule!

The oil from poison ivy, urushiol, is a topical irritant.  It doesn't spread via blood.

That said, if you have a rash, I'd wait on the tattoo.

Yes, reschedule. If the rashes & blisters spread to your tattoo your colour will get leached out and heal terribly. AKA your tattoo will look like sh*t.

Well, it didn't go anywhere else besides my ankle/leg area but got bad and I ended up going to the hospital to get steroid shot and meds to stop the itching. Had big blisters with fluid in them, gross...lol

anyway, i got the tat and i think it turned out great.
