Bash Back!: The New LGBT Activism?

Details magazine offers a provocative, if at times strained, feature on the "fearsome gay gangsters of Bash Back!" the "elusive band of transgender anarchists, radical sex workers, and queer troublemakers" who explicitly reference violence as an answer to oppression. The group has gained notoriety in the past year for in-your-face protest tactics that leave some members of the LGBT establishment feeling deeply uncomfortable.

I like a certain amount of politics as theater as long as no one is getting hurt and gluing the doors shut or chanting slogans, or tossing condemns ain't hurting anyone. And I'm all for the other point, the one that so many of the comments stressed, which is people who are on the receiving end of hate and violence have an absolute right - if not a duty - to protect themselves using any means necessary. So, not all bad.
