For some reason, I was feeling pretty frisky leaving the post office today. As I approached a grizzled old guy, he said: "You must be Miss Universe."
(WTF? ???)
I just laughed and said: "No, but sometimes I think I am."
He said: "Well, if you're not, it's just because you didn't enter the contest."
I replied, still feeling frisky, "Well thank you, but I think you need to get your eyes checked."
He said, a little gruffly: "I'm not looking with my eyes. I'm looking with my heart. After all, beauty is only skin deep."
I laughed and thanked him again. I might have given him a peck on the cheek if he had shaved in the last few days. But then I didn't want to get within grabbing distance. ::)
He said: "I bet I made your day."
I replied: "My week," tossed my head and went off smiling.
Later, I was wondering how many women that old rascal has pulled that on. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the encounter and continued into town feeling pretty darn good. :)

Keep knockin' 'em dead like that and there
won't be any left for the rest of us, Sis.

It is a nice feeling, indeed, when people react to our true selves.
Good for you.

That must have been thrilling!
I get the warm fuzzies on your behalf!
haha that's totally cool Kate! ;)
Kate as Miss Universe sounds right to me too. I'm glad you got to have such a rewarding conversation to keep you in good spirits.
