Title: To Stand or Sit
Post by: Kellsie on September 11, 2009, 11:35:38 AM
Just curious, how many of you ladies that are pre-op, stand when they urinate?  How many sit?  Me?  I sit just so it is not awkward when I do go full time.

I sat even before I was dealing with being trans. I stopped standing when I was in my twenties when I saw the mess it made. I guess that was nearly forty years ago.  I also had a shy bladder which when I had to use a urinal and men were anywhere near me, I just could not go. And of course there is no faster way to get clocked in the ladies restroom than standing in a stall toes pointing to the toilet.

When I finally decided to start wearing the underwear of my gender full-time, I started to "sit" full time.

In the past, I sat most of the time unless I couldn't (busy restaurant, movie theatre.)

Now, after over a year, it seems awkward standing.  :)

When I am at home I always sit and have for as long as I can remember. When I am out (drab) I stand.  I was just thinking about this the other day, actually.

In lady's, I sit. In men's, I stand. It's so simple  ;D

I suppose I'm the oddball. I'm 2 years into living full time and at home, most of the time, I still stand. And if I'm in a single person lockable restroom, the same is true. It hasn't always been true, however being lazy can be hard to break. Mind you, if it's a multi person situation, I sit.

Most of the time sit it just seamed normal, in the public setting in the mens loo being the nasty dirty place that it is I stood, now with my piercings (a PA and guichie that are connected) I am forced to sit no matter what, dirt loo or not, but I do much more public outings enfem so sitting is not a real issue but I have discovered to my amazment that the ladies loo can be just as nasty...

I sat when I thought I was tv....... I haven't stood since the day I transitioned and wouldn't dream of doing so now, it just never occurs to me.

Peeing standing whilst in-role is a bad practice best stopped ASAP ..... ( and why ever would you do so in the first place? .....it seems incongruous to me to adopt a female role and not follow it through as much as physically possible.... )
When I first transitioned, I would sometimes get up in the morning and find the loo seat up ..... because I had staggered in for a pee in the night half asleep and apparently stood  :-\
I fixed that by taping the loo seat down for a month, so that I got a forcible reminder - that fixed it   ;D

When I went to CX, they have a dual-role loo ...... it has a stall AND a urinal - that was the first urinal I'd seen in about a year and it I actually experienced mild shock when I saw it.

.... and yes...... some of the ladies loo's are dreadful - I was shocked to find that out 'cos I'd only ever been in nice ones and thought that they were all kept clean and tidy by ladies who used them with care and consideration..... how wrong I was....

It's been my experience that with the deflating effects of the hormones on the bits sitting is pretty much required because it's pretty hard to aim.

Not.

And if she's trying to keep her trans status secret, why is she in the men's room? :P

I think it's a cute picture, and if you look at the position of her arm the girl on the left apparently has a two foot long penis. Try tucking that!

At home I sit. In public restrooms I always take a stall and hover above the seat. Sometimes I overhear the comment about the woman who uses the men's room

I've a bit of a dilemma in this department as i don't have a real strong stream - if I sit, I don't finish, if I stand, things can get messy if I'm not VERY careful.

While mentally I like the feel of sitting, at the moment neither fully satisfies.

I have sat for as long as I can remember, unless I have no choice then I will reluctantly and very self-consciously stand. I had never given it any thought, until I came out to myself, then it was like, DUH. I guess some part of me always knew it was build wrong.  :o

You could have a problem with benign prostatic hyperplasia (https://www.susans.org/wiki/BPH).

Fortunately, the cure for that is HRT! >:-)

In that picture, it's two natal women making a funny picture.  The one on the left has a high waistline and the other girl is too petite to have gone through male puberty.

The only place I will stand to pee is a portapotty, or if I'm in gender-neutral and have to use the men's room.  If I'm dressed feminine, and have to pee outside, like on a hike, I squat.

I've always sat for more than twenty years unless the place was thoroughly disgusting.  Now I always sit, with no qualifying "unless"es.

One reason I started sitting was the mess it makes when standing.  One reason was because I could evacuate more thoroughly and then use toilet paper to wipe any drips.  I used to stand once in a while when I was in a real hurry until I noticed it isn't much quicker and too often makes a mess.

Yechh. :icon_blah:  How'd we get on this subject? :P

I sit always, at home and on the road.

On the road it can be a bit of a hassle with busy truck stop restrooms, and me not being fulltime yet, so the men's room can be full, and the privacy in some is a bit shady (Though Flying J's have the best stalls.)  But the way I dress does not give me a choice in the matter.

At home I sit just because.   :)

On a side note though, as some, or all may know it is a tactic of some (most??) truck drivers to use a bottle in their truck when they don't have the time to stop and hassle with a truck stop.  I admit I am one of those drivers.  So, in those situations I guess I stand.  (Though I feel I must also add that any of those bottles you see on the side of the road, etc... do not, and never will come from me.)

I sit, all the time. I began doing that about two years before transitioning, before that I did it sporadically.

I never use a mens room so the point is moot for me anyway.

I think if someone somehow forced me to stand it would be very difficult psychologically, like a return to an unpleasant life.

Becca, the pic is totally hot.

Hm a guy like me with girl plumbing will have to enlighten you on what gals REALLY do.

We hover.

Yes, bathrooms are often dirty and nasty. So, instead of sit on that pot, many of us sort of "hover" over it. You basically go like you're gonna sit on it, but instead of "landing" you "hover" over it in the sitting position. Takes some leg strength. Not every one does it, some just sit, some use the toilet seat covers ("ass gaskets") in the dispenser, etc. Some not used to Western style toilets will squat, with their feet on the seat, more reason many of us to "hover".

Even before "coming out" as transgendered or even while I was a little-little baby and an little kid, I would always sit...For me, standing seems uncomfortable, sitting gives you a relaxed and more comfortable feeling...And don't forget the awkward loud noise when you pee standing up, versus sitting down and it being whistled down lower.

In men's room, some strangers sometimes commented to me like "You certainly is a man as you piss while standing."

I do not like these comments.

At school I pretty much have to use the men's room so I stand there.  I feel really weird going into the men's room because people give me weird looks for being in there so standing is almost required at that point.

Am I less of a girl because I don't tremble in fear at how dirty a public rest room might be? I mean yeah, I have seen some actual disaster areas but I mean, just your general not-too-clean and not-too-nasty loo?

I just never have been the sort who would "hover" unless there is visible ....stuff...on the seat.

Hovering keeps you from developing red bumps on your backside.

Hehe...you lot make me laugh sometimes!

What do you lot think will happen if your oh-so dainty peaches'n'cream arse cheeks do touch that toilet seat anyway?  Have you any idea what sort of nasties live on keyboards and door-furniture? :)

I could tell you a few tales of some of the conditions I've had to endure while pinching a loaf on my travels. I can imagine some of you squealing in disgust already! lol.

Since a "friend" mentioned that red bumps on your rump
are unattractive and suggested I should start hovering,
my "dainty arse cheeks" are all "peaches'n'cream".

And Heather - sounds like a histamine reaction (or similar). Do you have sensitive skin or do you spend an exceedingly long time on the throne?

I do not believe my skin is all that sensitive and
I don't dawdle any longer than it takes to dibble.
All I know is, that when I started hovering
my...umm...complexion cleared up.

I sit because it is what I would be doing if born right.  Unless at the moment certain places do not permit it and such.  However I tend to avoid public places unless I have to period.
