I had this discussion the otherday with a girlfriend of mine who was born a woman. She has never seen the inside of a Men's Room and we were discussing the difference between the two. She knows my status, as a woman with a past and it's no big deal to her.

For starters she thought the woman's room was always a mess in 99% of the places she went too. I have to agree that in most cases the woman's room is messier than the men's room. This is in most establishments, rest stops on the highway don't count.

She told me she has seen pee on seats, hair on the seats, and the place is usualy a mess.  I agree, I have also seen pee on the seats, toilet paper, used and unused all over the floor, hairs, a used tampon in the bowl. 

We also had the discussion of hovering, which is probably why there is pee all over the seats. Have you girls gotten used to this?  At first, it was a strange for me, but now I normally walk into the stall, hang up my bag, drop my pants and panties and hover while I pee, wipe, pull up my panties and pants, Flush! and go on my way.

I have trouble with hovering so I usually clean the seat first and then sit on my hands (they are easier to wash afterward).

Having used both male and female bathrooms I can't say which ones are generally messier.  I suspect a scientific survey would reveal an equality in that respect.

In public restrooms I hover (i.e. mall, restaurant, bookstore, etc.).  At home and at work I sit.  I make sure not to make a mess, and if I accidentally do, I do the decent thing and clean it up for the next gal, which is more than I can say for some ladies.  Pee-ewww!

Fae I am the same way.  When I am out I'll hover in public places, but at home/work I sit. Hey I earned the chance to sit and I am going to take my time and do it!

As you mentioned too, if I make a mess, I'll usually clean it up. Amazing what I have seen in a stall, makes you wonder where some women were raised.

I would beg to differ.  Men's restrooms are nasty.

However, if the men's restroom is cleaner, it is probably because it doesn't get used as often and they don't have to go to so much trouble to use it to begin with.

Perhaps I don't belong on this area of the site, but I'm posting anyway.

The men have more practice aiming. That, and women can do some disgusting things with their feminine hygiene products. As far as my experience goes, the men's room is generally always cleaner.

If it helps you any, toilet seats (according to some test or another) are a lot cleaner than your keyboard, doorknob, telephone, faucet, pretty much everything since everyone's afraid to touch 'em. More people should use a seat cover IMO, they work.

I guess it depends on where you are. I've seen (women's) bathrooms in clubs that were so disgusting we actually left the club.

But I've also been in posh department stores and hotels where the restrooms were very clean.

Women check each other out more and at times conversations start.

I use the women's bathroom (not quite ready for the men's but getting there) and one thing the women do is, the tip of the TP hangs down and for some reason they'll pull some out and tear that tip off, discarding it, the result being little 1-4 square long tips of TP all over the floor. I dunno why they do'nt just put it in the bowl.

This is very interesting to read! Filthy women's restrooms? Growing up, it's been my experience that the men's room is nastier, just not as clutter-y. It seems like many guys don't bother aiming very well when they go to pee in a public restroom, and just end up peeing everywhere, or pee on the floor/in the corner just to be asinine, so the whole restroom just reeks of urine!

The women's room on the other hand, tends to smell much better (at least, the ones I've been in) because they tend not to pee all over the place. 'Hovering' is something that really confuses me, as it's making a mess of an act that shouldn't have to be messy. If I'm going to sit instead of stand, I wipe the toilet down with a handful of paper BEFORE I sit, so it's nice and dry, and eliminates the 'need' to hover. Since I won't be hovering after that, I don't need to wipe up the toilet when I'm done!

Public restrooms in general (Male or Female) are just plane nasty. I try to avoid them if possible  :P

I spent years running cleaning and maintenance crews for big rock clubs.  Men pee, the more beer you're selling, the worse the aim (but the bigger the profits you are bringing in), but that - and using the sink - is about as bad as it gets.

Women leak more things, and tend to be worse about dealing with them.  Unlike men and the beer equation, the one with women tends to be about class.  The higher the social class, the greater the sense of entitlement, the more you know someone else is going to follow you around and clean up after you, the worse it gets.

So yeah, if your heading into the men's room at a Wilie Nelson show towards the end, you might need hip waders.  Go into the woman's room after a bunch of Marin County girls get done, you'll need a bio-hazard suit.  Oh yeah, you're also going to get read the riot act by those same girls for NOT having gone in BEFORE they got there to clean it up for them.

Purses are awesome. Just yesterday a bigass mosquito (campus is crawling with them) landed in front of me. I smashed the little bastard and blood went everywhere. But I had wetnaps in my purse!

Wet naps are great. Carry them with you and use 'em liberally. Wipe the seat down. Clean your hands if there's no soap. Just whatever. People are sloppy and disgusting.


(edit) And I cleaned up the biohazard. I really strongly considered leaving it there to ward off other mosquitoes and brag to the guy sitting near  me, but I decided against it.)

Now Autumn's answer was pretty upbeat.  But i did like the hipwaders and bioharzard suit responce too.  This has been a great thread.

In my experience, men's rooms are generally dirtier.  Men will pee into the toilet while standing and not lift the seat.  Even if their aim is pretty good, there's a lot of splashing.  I've also seen toilet paper with feces on the floor and even feces wiped onto the walls.  (What's up with that?  I've got to start going to a better class of establishment. :P)

The other day I encountered blood smeared on the seat in the ladies room.  That was a first for me, but I'm sure it won't be the last.  And ladies: If you hover, clean up after yourself.  Geez. ::)

As a teen I worked summers at a public campground with showers and bathrooms for women and men. Women are far more filthy than men. Grafiti on the walls written with feces. Sick people.

Seeing the graffitti comments I have to say something about that.  I lived in Quebec for 4 1/2 years.  I noted with interest that when people wrote something political they always wrote in French.  When they had something vulgar to say it was English.  It was a sad commentary on what peole thought my language was good for.  My favorite comment, "Flush bien l'Ontariro si long."  In English, Flush well, it's a long way to Ontario.  Let me say before the replys come in, I have nothing against Ontario, it was just funny as heck.
