:) I've always said that if i got dad's body shape and mum's skin I'd be brown and skinny but alas, its the other way around. I'm worried that even when my voice gets deeper i'll still have a girls ass and hips and i'll never be able to pass. I am overweight but have been going to the gym for a month and working really hard, i'm under no illusion of the T making them magically disappear, but please tell me the guys in my predicament, does the T help eventually? ???
Nope. Your hips will slim down somewhat, but nothing can change your bone structure.
You'll always have hips, yes. As Mister said, the underlying bone structure of your hips will always be bigger than a person that never went through female puberty. But my hips are FAR more passable now than they used to be. I blend a lot better into the background now, 5 months on T. Granted, I don't walk around naked in public, so choice of clothing helps somewhat too. But people aren't JUST going to stare at your hips if you have them. They will take cues from other things going on about your appearance and your voice.
Also... my girl ass is finally going away. I didn't think it ever would, but turns out, that had a lot to do with my T aromatizing into Estrogen. Now that that's not happening so much, the fat is finally redistributing away from that area. I don't know of many people that have a bone structure that defines the shape of their ass... that seems to be largely muscle and fat, so DON'T work on your "glute" muscles until the fat from that area redistributes. It will only make it worse.
Best of luck.
First of all, Mister is totally right; you can't diminish bone structure. On a more personal note, I never had an ass to speak of, and even the lack thereof has gotten smaller on T. My hips have gotten smaller in terms of fat, but I've always had wider hips (though probably not for a chick), and that hasn't changed. They are, however, small enough at this point that no one seems to question my being a dude. This is after over a year on T... and pretty much, the fat redistribution will make the difference between your hips and the rest of your torso fairly minimal. If you're overweight, like I am (though still losing weight), T will put a lot of the fat from your hips into your belly, so instead of having big hips, you'll have a bit of a pot belly unless you're good with the ab exercises.
Not to mention, of course, that quite a few guys have wider than normal hips, and no one questions their being men. If you have a low enough voice, it's typically sufficient for people to peg you as male.

Cool thanks guys. Yeah I did mean the fat distribution rather than the bone structure. I guess its at the early stages of transitioning when it feels like the t is never going to kick in, but i have already noticed my muscles getting more substantial. And thanks for the tip about the glute exercises!

Unfortunately this is true. They will stay. I have slight hips and had love handles for T. But the weight distribution changed that but they are still there. :-\ But luckly I don't have a girly butt. I guess excerise could help some what and baggy tops too.

I have a girly, large butt in my opinion but I'm starting to notice it getting smaller. I did lose a good amount of weight last year anyway before being on T and alot of the loss was in my butt.
I think that FTM's face much less scrutiny than MTF's.
People judge your sex mostly by the total instantaneous impression.
I don't think that the public knows about hip size as a tell-tale characteristic of FTM's
I saw a trans-man the other day, good-looking, nice facial hair, nice voice.
Only because I knew that he was XX (due to the circumstances of the meeting) did I notice his hips.
Focusing on that, it was the most conspicuous aspect.
Oh, and just to add something else.
My partner, who's a cisgendered male, has as wide hips as I do, pre T.
So even if the bonestructure isn't something we can help, it's not like cis-boys don't have hips.
You can work out certain muscle groups around your hips that will make them look smaller by comparison. Obliques, back muscles, hamstrings--these will make you appear broader, while your hips stay the same width.
Today my brothers came for the holiday and I noticed my oldest brother wiggles! :D
I never noticed it before and it made me notice his hips are quite big too.
He's definitly a genetic male ^^
One of my really good friends from college has the widest hips in the world. We used to call them Child Bearing Hips. Even his girlfriend rags on him.
Everybody has their own unique features.
And we still loved him for his wide hips.
Some guys have wide boxy butts. I sometimes notice some guy (not necessarily fat) with a big ol' wide butt and some cutsie GF with him, thinking, How must it work for them? Does she get between HIS legs?
I didn't notice any no-butt guys at the Olympic Training Center. Athletes always have SOME butt and weightlifters have big ones. All power too.
You can diet, workout, choose clothing, and do various things for girl hips. I exercise the muscles on the sides of my waist as well as the front, and I find T is giving me a lot more mass around the shoulders and I'm starting to get a nice V shape.
I think my butt is huge but I've had gay guys tell me I"m gonna make a great looking guy without a big butt at all. Proof of this is I keep getting mistaken for this one other guy at this leather bar I go to sometimes.
If I wanted to shrink it fast I'd get into jogging/running. Best thing I know for losing extra stuff around the waist, butt, everywhere.
