Title: Leg waxing (re-visited)
Post by: Viv Juniper on September 17, 2009, 02:20:34 PM
How many of you wax your legs?

I've found a great product that is just as good as sugar waxing...and no heating/cooking is involved!  It is Nads wax strips that you can find at most drug stores for about $10.  They come in 24 count that has a 3x6" strip of wax on a piece of paper (which is surprisingly strong).  I can get both legs done with that amount, using each strip about 3 times.  Clean up is a breeze too because they include a wax remover towelette, although I've also used baby oil and a cloth when I ran out of towelettes.

I tell ya, I'm never going back to shaving my legs again!  I just love how smooth they are for weeks at a time.  No stubble itchies the next day either!  However, I did try them on my arms and they were a bit of a pain in the arse to use there. I suppose I will look into an epilator some day.  Speaking of pain, I can't figure what all the fuss is about over waxing.  It never really hurt much , other than the knee area (that brought a tear to my eyes) :)

The only drawback to waxing is the time involved.  It takes me about 45 mins. a leg to do, whereas shaving I'm done in 10 min.  Oh the price we pay for being beautiful ;D

Thanks for the info, I have yet to try waxing but I definitely want to give it a try at some point. Shaving is great but the next day or so, the stubble is always annoying

I have used this product (http://www.cleaneasybeauty.com/clean-easy-roll-waxer.htm) for years and found it to be great, far less mither than other waxing methods with pots, spatulas etc this was far better.

Last year a friend let me try her little epilator and I then bought one and have been using that ever since, just for the convenience of being able to remove hair a bit at a time whenever I have a spare few minutes, rather than setting up for a long waxing session.
Results aren't quite as good as waxing, but on balance the sheer convenience of the epilator wins out.

Pain wise ..... your own mileage may vary over time!   I used to be able to epilate my arms and it just felt like mild pins and needles - I used to wonder what all the fuss was about.
However, these days even though the hair is very fine now due to HRT and previous epilation, it's so painful that I can barely stand to do it there at all!

Wax strips never worked for me.  Maybe they're formulated differently these days.  I use a roll-on hot wax machine, actually, a pair of them.  This same machine has been around for decades - you can buy the machine and refills at most beauty supply places.  I use two machines because the wax stays hotter when I alternate machines.  It works really good for me.

I have used the Nads strips, as I have just waxed my legs for the first time, and agree that it wasn't at all painful.  I had one left and decided to try an arm.  "How different can it be", I said to myself.  Self said " That hurt like a bastard!"

Will stick to a razor for the arms I think, unless I decide to get them professionally done.

I have been getting full body waxing for years. It is a little expensive but I feel so feminime after getting waxed at my spa. Hair growth has reduced over the years and now my full body (yes brazillian) waxing takes only one hour. I now only need to go every 6 or 7 weeks. You can never do as good a job as a professional. A totally hairless boby feels wonderful!

I did my legs again tonight, as I didn't do a good job the first time I tried.  Not as painful as the first time, so tried the chest, gritted my teeth and kept on going. Not so bad that I won't repeat it, but definitely felt it more than the legs.
