I have aspergers syndrome. It makes me have more of a male brain even if I wasnt transgendered. Although transsexuals have difficulty, having aspergers makes it even harder for me to adapt to the change. I sometimes feel a attachment to being female because its who I lived as for all these years. I find this weird because I happily identify as male and when I feel this attachment its like someone who is in a bad relationship but doesn't want to let go because there who they were used to. I think I feel more comfortable with repetition?
Also I feel somewhat guilty because my mom says she feels like Im dying despite the fact that other than my appearance I havent changed at all.
I got to overcome this. Its causing me alot of stress.
I too feel an attachment to being female, I don't think theres anything wrong with that. For me, its apart of who I am and was and usually manifests when talking about womens stuff with other women and forgetting momentarily that I'm not seen as one anymore, lol.
I don't necessarily feel an attachment to being female perse (not that that's bad, just not what I feel) but I DO feel an attachment to my old life, just because, it's the only one I've had! lol
I think that if I completely gave up my previous life and pretended it didn't happen, or "rewrote" it in a sense, then that wouldn't be right for me, but others may disagree and I respect that too.
I spent 30 years living as a girl/woman, and even though I realize now that all that time I was still a guy on the inside, I still was seen as a girl to others, treated as a girl, etc. So I can't throw away that aspect of my history without throwing away a large part of what made me who I am today, nor would I want to.
But I don't know if that's the same thing you're saying, just adding my perspective. :)
I just turned 47! Since I'm only 3 months on T that's a LONG time living as a gurl, of some type or another.
Thanks to my clean diet, healthy living, and weekly shot of "vitamin T" my muscles are growing very nicely. I need more recent pics, since as muscular as I was before T, it's at a whole new level now.
And I freakin' love to shop in good old Jo-Anne Crafts, or Michael's, picking out new colors of ribbon (I make my meager living on awareness ribbons right now) and checking out all the other cool stuff there, I grew up having to mend and alter, hem, etc, my clothes and I'm not giving up those good skills! Some "girly" stuff is really cool.
And boy do I get some odd looks from the ladies in those stores!

It's not that you don't look manly or even that you look like you're 12, you just look like you're in your 20s, not in a bad way!
