Haha im just curious what you all think Im not gonna die.
I think the hair makes you look a bit too feminine.
Very boyish. Don't agree with Tristan about the hair. :)

Nah, you don't need a buzz. Heck, I don't have a buzz and I think look like a butch lesbian sometimes.
You might want to consider restyling it, but if you like it and want to keep it as is then just keep it. To me it would have been the only thing tipping me off, but what matters the most is how you pass in public. Body language and how you present yourself is extremely important. I once got away with passing with long hair, as long as it wasn't in a pony tail.
Unfortunately, I think your voice is one of the big ones.
If people don't hear my voice, but see me, they generally think I'm male. I act male, I wear male clothing, my face is generally somewhat masculine, although in a softer sense. Once they hear my voice they just decide I'm a very unfortunate and/or masculine woman. Your voice will be a big factor in whether or not you pass. But if you want people to treat you as the gender you want to be, it's best to either a) get hormones ASAP or b) tell them to do it. Forget the insecurities. Tell them your name is Kyle, correct them if they get it wrong.
my first impression is you look like a guy of your age in that picture, I don't think your hair is that big of a deal, really.

Huh, that's the
only times I've passed. That I've known for sure anyway.
Yeah the hair looks good. The thing that seemed like the biggest tell to me was the chest.

So, I don't spend a whole lot of time on the FtM portion of this site.
I have to say, you look like a mid-teens guy. Sorry if you are older than that. You remind me of this guy I knew when I was in highschool.
I don't think your chest is that noticeable either.
I don't know your situation (if your on T, or how long you've been on it), but you are looking awesome!

Heh, yeah. I'm sure it has to do with face types as well. For some people, shorter hair outs them when they're not on hormones yet and vice versa.
I think that you're looking pretty nice ;p Not sure of your situation (T or no T) but, either way, I think you're doing well :]
xoxo
Something seems odd around the chest that says "not male"
your hair is kindof poofy. ive seen guys cuts similar to that, like the surfer curls or skater hair, but with less volume. stereotypically, hair isnt as volumized in guys.

I have to agree with Josh here, dude. A tad bouffant! You pass very well as a young teen guy in your avatar, btw.

I think that is one reason I'm not passing. My hair is extremely thick and curly/wavy. Plus it grows so fast, can't keep up with it. But when I cut it all off, my head/face shape gives me away. Guess I'll just have to wait until T renders me unambiguous.

As for the topic, this ^.
You pass to me, although I agree with others that the hair and chest could be problematic if you're looking for it.
In this picture I would say you do. I don't see anything odd with your chest and I don't see a big deal with your hair.

I can't see anything funny round the chest area because the pic is a bit fuzzy and it's head-on. The hair looks a bit poofy to me--"volumized," someone called it. Might want to tone it down just a little. But you still look pretty darned good.
P.S. Okay, time to be TOTALLY honest: your pic would have been much more "passing" if you had left the toilet seat up.
i think you look like a very young dude with messed up hair the hair actually makes you look more emo then girlish not trying to offend though your chest isnt noticeable but your arms are they look small which is why equate it to young boy t should fix this once you start gaining weight what is your age in this picture i would place you as 12-13 year old boy if your in your twenties then this could be an issue until you gain either muscle or just poundage
I think the hair doesn't look really make a difference in that picture, you pass just as biological guys seems to pass I think :P
Thanks everyone.
Nero I know what your saying my hair is so wavy I cant always control it. Fortuntetely Im not yet 20. I plan to start taking t within the next two years.
And about my chest..I dont bind. I know it sounds crazy but my mom took away my binder. I just wear a sports bra and a large guy shirt and hope it works which usually does.

You don't bind? I envy your small breast size. I am thin yet I have a larger chest size. A genetic feat women enjoy, but something that has been a curse on my end :P

Im a b cup.
And actually not all women like having big boobs. Some feel embarrased and get breast reductions. And as much as I love boobies saggy double ds are not sexy.
Yeah, I do know a few people who want reductions, mostly for back issues. I have a C cup. Not that large but is a pain to hide.

OMG, so many things in these last couple of days I've first heard of, it makes me feel a tad bit thick. ;D

Some people I know didn't notice when I started binding. Once someone pointed it out and another friend sort of went quiet for a second and then commented how he felt something had been different but he figured I just hadn't been wearing a bra. The size difference and lack of chest just flew over his head.
I rose a brow at the bra comment because, pfft yeah that makes sense ( sarcasm )... if gravity didn't exists.

I have tried peeing standing up before..it doesnt really work out half the time. I need one of those piss packers.
Aye, now that's a question where on the internet can them be bought?
Kamren, not wearing a bra would make them stand out all the more though, wouldn't it, lol, bless his cotton socks. ;D
You should try convincing your mother to let you wear a binder... I mean, honestly, it's your body. I don't know how old you are, but regardless, I feel you should be able to make decisions about what you wear, not her. I mean, if you're going to look into a mastectomy and wearing a packer, why not wear a binder?
Argue that not having a flat chest could make you vulnerable to hate crimes, etc. It seems unfair.

My mom has to let me have my binder in May whether she likes it or not. I suppose I can wait.
She also thinks she can tell me not to start t in 2 years. Shes wrong. I am a good kid. But when it comes to this, who I am, noone will get in my way, not even my mother. And besides I think 2 years is plenty of time to decide if this is what I want.
And unfortuntely my mom said if I buy another binder shell take away my car. I kinda need it.

Oh man, if only this were true. Binding's such a pain in the @#$. Also, if she's threatening to take away your car, I'd stick with not getting another binder until the car's in your name and she can't. Better not to rock the boat.
Besides, if your mannerisms and voice are good enough, you probably pass fine the way you are.
Yeah, actually. In that photo, you do pass for a young man fixin' to break some little girls hearts. Of course, I have no idea how you come across in person.

Girls just like guys with confidence, even if it's the wrong kind of confidence. And at this point in your life, I can understand why it might not be easy to muster confidence because of your body, but once a girl sees a nice guy who has confidence in himself, she'll be all over you.
And a B cup? How do you hide it?

Lol. Sorry. Joke.
If the car is in your name, she can't take it away, anyway. :)
11 year old sk8er dude.
Learn the tic-tac, 360, and nose wheelie, you'll be cooooooool.
I think you pass very well, you look about 14-15, maybe 16
I agree with people about the hair, it doesn't need to be shorter.. it just needs to be a bit flatter and less puffy I think that will look more male
In the photo, you pass as a very cute young teen guy... around 15 yrs old... and I can see some chest, but its not rly noticeable... about binding you can try other things since your mom took your binder away, or try to convince her to give it back. Educate her, look up websites about binding and show her that it'll make you more comfortable with yourself. Make a deal with her, that if she lets you have it back then you'll keep your grades up or something. Let her know about dysphoria and depression, and by keeping it from you that you're at risk for that... or that she'll just ruin your guys' relationship... or something in that sense...
Since I made this thread I cut my hair. It looks like this (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi21.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb293%2Farielthealien%2FIMG_1172.jpg&hash=8c2ca4da7937934fdbb87c73c199dd45a0881a09)
I know my chest is noticeable because I wasnt binding. I now wear two sports bras at the same time and it works pretty well
I liked your old haircut.

The only suggestion I can make is to get your hair shortened at the back, so that you don't have those wispy strands. (I have curly hair, too, so I get those as well). You could try a hair straightener for the rest of the hair, but they are a bother to deal with, or you could go to a salon and get it thinned and layered. Yes, they tend to give you feminine haircuts, but if you ask for a very specific cut, they will not. Make sure you bring a picture or stress it to be a man's cut.

Me neither. You look like my guitarist (http://rowan.sexyhobbitsuperstar.com/crap/dudes/IMG_0451.JPG), dude.
It's times like this that I'm convinced that TS persons are WAY more nit-picky about "who looks like a guy / girl" than everybody else in the world.
A word of advice that goes for everybody:
Being comfortable with how one looks REALLY DOES show through in your every-day interactions. If you look "masculine enough" and are presenting yourself as a guy, and are comfortable with "just masculine enough", then you'll pass as a guy with little or no issue (I'm not going to speak to what TS women have to go through just to pass, cos frankly, this society has some quacked-up notions of what looks "woman enough"). If you don't THINK you look "man enough" and you think beefing up and getting a buzz-cut is the only think that will make you look "man enough", then that will show through if you don't look like that. Solution? Cut your hair, beef up, and more power to you. On the other hand, if you want to look like an Indie boy, and that's where you're most comfortable, then go ahead and do that -- I will say, though, working off the "birthing hips" and taking testosterone will definitely help TS Indie Boys appear more "male" in public (cos it will alter your bone structure and drop your voice -- these changes *typically* only take 4-6 weeks to start getting noticed, I'm serious), but if you're comfortable with the same kinds of haircuts that Emo and Indie boys have, then don't let anybody else tell you what you "have to" look like "to pass". Get your T as soon as you can, bind the breasticles, and maybe work in a few sit-ups in the morning if you think it'll help. But if you want to look like an Indie boy, chances are good that most of your friends are other Indie boys, and you go to places with other Indie boys, so you'll blend right in.
On the other hand, if you want to hang out at the gym all day and look like you stepped out of a Tom of Finland drawing (erotic artist -- I will not link from here, but I will want you that he's very NSFW), then looking like an Indie boy won't help you "pass as a guy" amongst guys that do that.
ETA:
Testosterone also redistributes fat like woah. Females typically put on fat firswt in their hips/thighs/butt region and at the sides of the waist -- males typically first put it on in the belly. So yeah, T really helps if you want to look like an Indie boy, cos fat distro is one of those things that "flags" others about another person's gender but it's just so commonplace that most people don't realise they're seeing it, if that makes sense.

Amen to that. Ive noticed the guys who passed best are the confident ones. I like what i look like, I would never get a buzz cut.(well im shaving my head for cancer in march but i digress...) If you try too hard to look like a guy youll look wrong. Its all about being yourself anyway.

Yeah, and he's 5'6", so he's kind of on the short side for natal males. And this guy (http://archives.deadmilkmen.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/04/joe_in_van.jpg) is Joe Talcum from The Dead Milkmen -- it was taken around 1987, so he was in his mid-twenties then, but his hair was longer than yours, and aside from some apparent jaw corners, I think he looked more "feminine", in how soft his face was then. He's also, I kid you not,
5'4" (I've met him, and I'm 5'2" -- my room-mate though we were the same height); but he has apparent stubble and a bit of an Adam's apple. But prominent apples mean nothing -- my guitarist's isn't prominent at all -- as long as one can throw off enough "masculine" signals (which T really
can help with), you're going to look "man enough" to most people.
Seriously, I think you look "man enough", but if you want tips on accentuating your masculine qualities, I can offer some advice that worked for me (and I literally
couldn't "pass as male" before surgery, and my biggest help has been testosterone -- but, according to my friends, certain social habits helped a lot more in that three or four months between op and T than I tend to give them credit for). My point is that beefing up and cutting hair are totally optional -- if that's not the kind of guy you want to be, you'll only seem really insecure as you're doing it, and yeah, you may
look more "masculine", but it'll be at the cost of confidence. Better to appear young and androgynous with confidence than to be "that awkward / obnoxious guy". Serious,
nobody likes "that awkward / obnoxious guy".
Little guys rock!
OMG Joe Talcum???? The Dead Milkmen are my favorite band EVER. Damn YouTube for taking their videos off, esp. the Peter Bazooka and Smokin' Banana Peels ones are brilliant and now no one can see them.
Hah Tom of Finland rocks! In an ideal world I'd be one of his motorcycle cops bike and all .... and the girls would climb all over me heh heh!
